Compare your video with ours

LSU made a very smart choice to do the video in a small indodor venue, as opposed to outdoors or an entire dome. That was the difference IMO. Makes the sound much better. I believe they were the only one. Extremely smart move. Or dumb on the others not to do that. I guess the others chose to use their typical marching band venue where they play games.

Most black bands stress loudness and horn blowing. While the tune sounds awful, you have to admit that they're loud plus they love to swagger while playing. It's all a cultural and racial thing.

Actually, this is the one that counts. Most coveted. LSU has won once. USC not

Well, since a school can only win this award once, take heart, sooner or later they'll get around to USC.

Tangerine I actually think you're one of the more intelligent posters on here (maybe because I don't get on as much as I used to)

But saying SC's band is even average is ridiculous. USC may have one of the premiere schools academically/baseball/football etc. but one thing they DO NOT have is a good band. By ANY means. I've seen them play in person. They're atrociously horrible. Their sound is disgusting and technique horrendous.

now if anything this is madness.... southern invented neck and has been playing it for years on top pf years.. if you ever go to a game when they play that song so loud it brings chills down your spine.. i go to lsu and the have a great military style band that entertains better from the stands and getting the fans pumed.. but southern has gone to entertain numerous presidentsand etc... People go to games just for the halftime show.. so to answer the question Lsu has some of the best technique in the nation hands down.. but The human jukebox is one style to never be duplicated by anyone ever...youtube it for yourself and make sure you hear thier neck but were so lucky to have of the worlds two finest marching bands in one city... combine the two and watchout..lol geaux tigers lite em up jags!....

Why else would you go to a Southern Game?

LSU's band is not a military style band. Both bands are good. Why try to compare apples to oranges?

I think he meant to say that its a "Corps" style band as opposed to "traditional."

But yes it is like comparing apples to oranges.

Now if we only had both bands on the field at the same time. LSU's band playing (in good tone not raspy etc..) in the background while SU's band gyrates and dances around (putting on a show) while not playing (messing up the sound). We could then have the Golden girls dancing with LSU's and SU's flags and baton twirlers doing their thing in the background. Now that would be a sight to see!
