My wife had given me a new SLR as an early Christmas present that year and I took it to the game in South Bend. I got a shot of Theismann attempting a pass to Gatewood (44) in the end zone. Theismann was hit as he threw the ball and it went directly to Tommy Casanova who had a lot of empty real estate in front of him. Uncharacteristically Casanova dropped the sure interception. ND then kicked a field goal to win 3-0:

Yea, I can dig out a few I took of Dalton Hilliard in Tiger Stadium. I'll post those when I find them.

I would think that LSU athletic dept. and Casanova would likely be interested in obtaining that image from you.

I remembering listening to that game on the radio. The Tigers got payback next year when they whipped that arse 28-8. I was at that game and enjoyed every moment. Still have the program.

I watched that game at the LSU field house on closed circuit broadcast. Place wasn’t that big and it was wild.

I was there. Awesome game. Norte Dame ranked #1, LSU ranked #7. Game ended 3-0 Notre Dame. The Chicago Tribune said if Norte Dame is #1, LSU is #1a. Great road trip sponsored by American Bank.

Rainy day as I recall. Is that correct?
I just listened on radio, but was one of the crowd that rushed the field the next year when we stomped them in TS.

Here are a couple of more images from that game - QB Buddy Lee (18) handing off to Art Cantrelle (24).

I remember listening to the game on radio. It was a heartbreaking loss considering that Tommy Casanova could have returned that interception for a TD. Also toward the end of the game, maybe LSU's last possession Al Coffee was wide open and let a pass go through his hands that would have been a TD had he caught it. Glad I was able to see the Tigers pay them back the following year in Tiger Stadium.

I remember watching on close circuit tv from a large hall in the Edmund Kirby Smith dorm. The game was broadcast without sound. On their winning drive late in the game LSU was hit two or three pass interference calls which set up the winning field goal. If memory serves two were against Casanova.

Sweet revenge hammering the Irish the following year 28-8??

Had Casanova caught that ball the game would have ended in a scoreless tie. I was 12 years old and was listening to the game on the radio with my friend who was Tommy Casanova's cousin. We were heartbroken.

My dad (LSU DL #93) sacked Joe Theisman twice in that game. Once for 5 yards and the second for 13 yards. I have the coaches film that I obtained from the Notre Dame media department. Cost me $90 bucks for the film and the radio broadcast.
