Did not expect to see Guidry this early.

7 of last 8 pitches were sliders

He really just doesn’t have much mix.

He's got a mix. Not sure why calls were so slider heavy.

Herring is the Sunday long relief option at best. That's if Loer doesn't pass that up.

At this point, I think our most complete staff looks like this.

Friday - Jump. Ack is the first long relief guy.
Saturday - Holman. Anderson is your next long relief guy, if Ack was used up.
Sunday - Hurd. Herring is the long relief guy, if both had to be used to win.

Midweek- Coleman.

And then you still need to sort out the back end of the pen.

Yeah. I thought Anderson might be moved along slower as midweek starter, but he's been too good not to be used in long relief on weekends.

Meh. Was a great play. I don't think that's made majority of the time.

t91.7 on the fastball

Looks like he was throwing what they deemed a cutter on top of a more traditional slider

cutter 86-88mph (86.8 avg)
Slider 82-84mph (84.2 avg)

Rpm’s are about the same 2600-2700. I have read in the past that his slider has topped 3000 but not tonight.

These could be the same pitch but I lean towards no. Looks like he is blatantly trying to throw one harder but the characteristics are near similar in terms of rpm & break

Guidry also 6 whiffs on 18 pitches is elite. 33% swing & miss

I found the site earlier but could never locate the game. Looks like I should have searched the mascots.

Does this site do college baseball or only this tournament since its the Astros Minute Maid Classic?

I understand why people think this is the best available option, but it's simply not.

Coleman will not be the Sunday starter over Anderson. Anderson showed he has what it takes with his mental toughness against Rice. Loved seeing him get pissed off after the defense let him down in the 3rd and coming out pissed off and mowing down Rice 6 up 6 down in the 4th and 5th.

I don’t.

Wasting Anderson on midweek scrubs in meaningless games would be stupid.

Hell, the idea of a midweek starter is dumb. Those games should be used to get a bunch of guys work.
