Didn’t John Bond, MSU QB, beat us 4 years in a row?
Only QB to do so from what I remember

Then they lost to Tulane the next week
Coincidentally, that was the last time they did.

The stadium smelled like oranges for a few weeks - freshman season at lsu
Great season for a team that wasn’t expected to do much
I see coach Stovall in the gym - a great tiger

the defense couldn’t stop them and there were zero adjustments
The 82 Orange/Fog game was my favorite GBFTL game in Tiger Stadium, then my least favorite was the 31-28 loss to Tulane the next week. (My last GBFTL game in the Tiger and we lose to those MF'ers

Raise your hand if you ended that night in a holding cell.

Since I ran from the EBR sheriff's deputy who had a beeline on me, I’m guessing you weren’t so lucky.

Fog and oranges against FSU and rock bottom against Tulane. What a roller coaster!

Yep. Freaking Mack Brown was the Poolame coach as I recall.
Nope He was LSU’s OC
“Vegas” Vince Gibson was Tulane’s coach

I think a thick blanket of fog moved into the stadium in the 2nd half. Made it difficult to see across the stadium.
Yes...
Yes...

Yeah. I remembered or someone else reminded me but my memory was how he shite the bed and the defense was putrid. That team shouldn’t have lost a game that season. Still pisses me off about St and Tulane. Nebraska was a hard pill to swallow as well.

Dalton was on fire. That run at -
1:43:00 ish was pure Hilliard

Best game I ever attended.
Throwing oranges, fog lipping over the riverside edge of the stadium starting the second half. Could barely see the players on the field it was so thick.
EPIC and wonderful...

Ah, the memories
I was in middle school and watched it on Tigervision with my parents. My brothers in high school went to the game (and came home drunker than skunks).
That game was the epitome of Tiger Stadium mystique- Top Ten opponent, winner goes to the Orange Bowl, tight early game, then LSU just totally destroying them. Oranges flying, the fog rolling in over the lip of the stadium bowl, Hilliard putting on a show for the ages.
And in classic fashion, we then drop the Tulane and Miss State games
, turning an incredible season into yet another very good but flawed one.
The Orange Bowl against Nebraska was a heartbreaker. We took the winning points off the board on a penalty on a made field goal, then fumbled and never scored again
. Garry James was hurt so Hilliard had to go it alone, he did well but just couldn't pull it out.
Seasons like that one, and the 87 team (tie on a late INT against Ohio State), seemed to prove LSU would always get close, but never quite get it all... until 2003 happened. But we loved our Tigers anyway. I kinda hate the attitude that developed in the fanbase, where people began bitching about HOW we'd win; it's like they forgot just how hard it was to get things right every week. I think it's finally getting back to where people can just appreciate winning 10 games for what it is, instead of whining about the couple of losses that happen.

quote:Absolutely. He had better moves than anyone I've ever seen, including Barry Sanders. He just didn't have pure speed, or he'd have become a football immortal like Sanders. But he was a nightmare to tackle one-on-one, you could never get a clean shot on him.
Edit: if you want to see what Dalton was like at LSU, go to the 1:43:00 mark and watch a couple minutes. He is one of the best backs to ever play here. Damn sure top 5.
