As @VoiceLadyTigers pointed out in @LSUradio postgame, @LSUfootball's total offense has increased in each of its 1st 4 games (296-335-370-409). Not exactly a bellwether, but #LSU hasn't done that since 1972.

At this rate we’ll put up 600 yards on Bama.

Just win. Having more W’s than everyone else is the only stat that matters. Style points are for teams that play a weak schedule.

So what? Don’t you want to see improvement? If we were trending down I’m pretty sure you’d have a comment then.

They had lackluster moments last night but 409 yards and 38 points is good any day

It's a promising trend, but...

Well, I'm seeing improvement in Burrow, the OL (pass & run), and WRs (somewhat). And now it appears CEH is getting settled in (which may be the biggest thing for the O).

Stands to reason.

Believe it or not, both Deculus and Traore performed measurably better last night than the first 2 games (AU is so far an outlier for Deculus). At least Traore isn't getting baited out and giving it up inside (thereby closing a passing lane to sideline AND straight line to step-up zone in pocket).

Lewis has cleaned it up a little; he's getting better at 2nd level blocking. Cush is feeling it, big time. He was barking at Deculus and Traore last night, dancing, had some swagger, talking shite to the Tech DL. And don't forget, he had a nose guard over him; that was his first time for that and he did very well.

WRs seem to be making some plays, slightly less drops (still a problem), and their blocking has improved too. If they would get better faster, we'd probably see a whole different story.

I'm not happy with our offensive mentality of "picking at them" instead of attacking any and every weakness we spot. Booth needs to clean up and improve as much as the WRs. Limping DB? throw on him. S cheating up, sneak a wheel route behind a streaking WR, etc. etc. Seems like we are content to just "run our plays" and hope they haven't adjusted.

The offense is growing. They’re young, inexperienced and getting more and more confidence. I like watching this offense grow together.

So there's no reason for concern? We are dead last in the SEC. Not good!

Do you remember 2015? We started out 7-0 and rose to #6 in the rankings, but the offense struggled mightily in several of those wins. By the time we hit the meat of our conference schedule, it was too late to make any substantial changes. We lost 3 games in a row, all by double digits.

We can enjoy the wins and still acknowledge that we need to get a lot better, if we hope to contend for any kind of championship.

first 3 games minus the 2nd half vs miami and slu:
36-72
11 different receivers
515 yds
14 yd avg
19 completions over 10 yds

1st half vs la tech:
11-18
6 different receivers
136 yds
12 yd avg
5 completions over 10 yds (45%)

total:
47-90
11 different receivers
651 yds
14 yd avg
24 completions over 10 yds (51%)

looking at the top 40 qb's by total yards, it appears that these numbers are not terrible. for example, haskins has 115 attempts through 4 games. mond has 122. the stats i posted have burrow at 90 minus a game and a half.

8 of the top 40 are less than 60% completion rate.

only 1 other qb in the country has 100+ attempts and 0 int's. rypien at boise st. the next closest is 90 attempts.

incidentally, burrow was 16th nationally yds/completion through 3 games.

believe it or not, burrow's rankings might go up as conference play goes on, if ens does go 4 quarters instead of quitting at halftime.

This is not surprising. The offense should improve all year long.

1. We have a new quarterback that didn't play spring ball. It should be expected that as the season progresses the chemistry with the wide receivers will improve. He will also develop a better understanding of the offense and the capabilities of the players around him.

2. While our starting running back has some experience, the back ups came into the season without having any playing time at all. It takes time to adapt to the speed of the game. So we should expect improvement here as well.

3. Our wide receivers also have had very little game time. The lack of experience leads to a lack of confidence that can result in dropped passes. It happens to a lot of players. So our wide receivers will improve as the year goes on. I should note that the one exception is Giles, but his game experience is with another team. If he doesn't improve he will get passed up.

4. Offensive lines can take some time to gel. It can take some time until the unit becomes cohesive. We've had a revolving door line-up that has hampered this development, but at the same time it has given lots of guys playing time, which should ease this transition in the future. When our personnel stabilizes, we can expect this unit to improve over the season too.

In addition, I think we need to accept that part of our struggles against our two weaker opponents is that we used the opportunity to break in young players that needed experience. I don't know if we are playoff ready this year. I don't know if we will be in the playoffs next year. But I do know that the team is showing signs of improvement, and that is the most important thing.

Is it dead last in the SEC or not? Are we now accepting of the worst offensive production in the SEC because its improved number wise but remains last?

Its ok to enjoy the ranking but not the offense. The crap some are willing to put up with in order to find ways to cover up for O is funny.

LSU played two pretty stout defenses during the stretch . But that Southeastern game tho. It was a stat killer. The offense is better than the stats suggest. Keep improving the offensive side particularly the passing game along with the O-line. Brossette has quitely moved up significantlyto 4th in the SEC in rushing
