Is it dead last in the SEC or not? Are we now accepting of the worst offensive production in the SEC because its improved number wise but remains last?

Its ok to enjoy the ranking but not the offense. The crap some are willing to put up with in order to find ways to cover up for O is funny.

Why so bitter?

The OP merely pointed out that the offensive production has increased every game this year. Do you dispute this?

that Southeastern game tho. It was a stat killer
only the 2nd half. the 1st half was fine. same with miami. pretty much the same with la tech. that's 3 games where lsu had an early lead and then either dialed it back and/or started playing subs.

I have to believe our rankings should improve as other teams play top defenses like we have.

Our numbers right now are horrible, not defending them, but I think we'll be middle of the pack by the end of the year (hopefully).

Wouldn't hurt to throw up 50+ against Ole Miss this weekend.

So there's no reason for concern? We are dead last in the SEC. Not good!

Do you remember 2015? We started out 7-0 and rose to #6 in the rankings, but the offense struggled mightily in several of those wins. By the time we hit the meat of our conference schedule, it was too late to make any substantial changes. We lost 3 games in a row, all by double digits.

We can enjoy the wins and still acknowledge that we need to get a lot better, if we hope to contend for any kind of championship.

If we weren't getting better, I'd be concerned. If we weren't seeing adjustments and improvement, I'd be concerned. Right now, I'm just having a good time because I have faith in the coaches to keep improving.

You are right. No reason for concern over being dead last in offensive production as long as the numbers that put us last have improved!

Back in the real world, the LSU offense needs to get better and fast.

The bar was set low by the first game. The offense is worse compared to where it was before Orgeron was hired. Do you dispute that?

Get lost with this simple minded BS. Seeing the serious offensive problems with the team no matter the excellent ranking doesn't make anyone bitter.

That doesn't mean shite when that offensive production increase leaves LSU dead last in the SEC.

Yardage in Miles' last 4 games.
Wisconsin - 257
Jacksonville St. - 371
Mississippi St. - 392
Auburn - 338
Total = 1358

1410 - Total Yards through 4 games in 2018

1410 > 1358

2016 we returned our OC, starting QB from 2015 and two of the best running backs to every wear the purple and gold. This year, I couldn't even tell you who our best skill position player would be coming into the year.

2016 team scored 90 (22.5 PPG) total points through the first 4 games.

2018 team has scored 124 (31 PPG).

124 > 90
31 > 22.5

Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. Miles had years to get the offense straightened out and never did. I'm not even sure why he's relevant at all to this discussion other than you must hate Orgeron so much that you're forced to cling to some weird, misguided nostalgia about the end of Miles' tenure.

The bottom line is the offense HAS improved in each game and it's nowhere near where it needs to be. But there are positives if you're willing to see them.

You are correct. Your attitude is what makes you bitter.

Nobody in this thread has said the offense is where it needs to be. Only that the output is improving.

We're going to find out really soon if it's adequate or not. Hopefully we can get some stability on the offensive line and keep improving as the season progresses. I'm less encouraged today than I was last Monday, but there were definitely positives in the Tech game. Most notably, the touchdown drive after Tech got to within 3, Dee Anderson continuing to impress, the emergence of CEH as a solid second running back, and Burrow continuing to make the right decisions despite less than stellar line play.

“Bottom line is the offense HAS improved “

I would think the bottom line would be that LSU is # 5 in the nation even while the LSU O is last in the SEC

One is pretty damn good and one is pretty damn bad. Being able to note both those factors is ok.

So if you take away the periods of atrocious play our stats look better? Who knew

Right. I meant the offense has improved as the season has progressed. This is a fact. It's also a fact that we're still last in the SEC. I'm not saying this is not concerning, but I doubt we'll be last next Monday.

But are we really getting better? It's true that our total ypg has increased each week, but we still struggle to move the ball, and our 3rd down conversion rate is not good. In every game so far, the offense has disappeared for roughly 2 whole quarters. We can't keep doing that and hope to keep winning. Both the play calling and the execution has to improve.

chemistry with the wide receivers

I feel some forget this portion with passing game.

The comments are either "Burrow is inaccurate" or "receivers are not getting open/separation"...I think it lies in the middle. The chemistry is taking shape and that's why its improving every week

But are we really getting better?

Yes, we are. We were 3/16 (~19%) converting 3rd down against Miami. We're 45% on 3rd downs in the three games since, which would be good for 7th in the SEC.

could you have misunderstood the stats any worse?

again, it appears that when lsu doesn't have a big lead, the stats are not really bad at all. when lsu has a lead, the strategy changes significantly and obviously affects the stats. it has nothing to do with the offense being "atrocious."
