re: LSU tops staff pay for the fourth straight year

I'm sure that has something to do with it. The other obvious consideration was Saban was buying low on him. Lane Kiffin fricked up Oakland so bad that Al Davis broke out the overhead projector and tried to fire him for cause. He burned every bridge in the world on the way out of Tennessee where his best win was a loss to Alabama. He then nuked USC's offense while being the head coach, and it immediately became serviceable again when he was fired mid-season. People weren't exactly beating the door down for multi-stop failure Lane Kiffin when Saban offered him.

Isn't orgeron's low pay offset by still being paid by USC?

We need to start inventing excuses. Like: "it's not their fault they get paid so much and produce so little...that money ain't gonna manage itself".

Kiffin could also want less to make USC pay more

Kiffin being an a-hole? There's a shock. Way out of character for him.

All of this is very true. The sad part is there were people on this board hoping we'd get Kiffin if Miles were fired.

I wonder if he had a buyout with USC? Could be the reason why he is paid so little?
it is

I had been seeing posts on this site saying "false"
I believe most of the people I saw saying that were adding in the head coaches salary. Don't think we'd drop that much even then, but I think that was the objection. We'd certainly be behind Alabama then.

Well, all I know is in January of 2012 they exercised their leverage to get huge raises
Nope. The "staff" you are speaking of being the highest paid does not include the head coach.

I've been saying it for years... this ain't a place to coach football. It's a place for people to get rich.
