LINKJust moved from LSU to Umass, the worst team in the damn country, for grad school. Any other tiger fans stuck up here? Cuz I sure as hell won’t be busy with their ‘football’ “team.”

I live less than a half mile from UMass. Actually went for a run yesterday evening around their campus. Whats up baw?

Who cares if UMass has a shitty football team? I've been here 6 years and have never once thought to check their games out. BC is actually not a horrible place to catch a game, and the Harvard/Yale game is always entertaining.

The LSU Alumni Association has their watch parties at The Baseball Tavern in Fenway. We usually only go for one or two games a year, almost only for Bama. But it can be a good time if it's a good matchup.

Boston is an awesome city. Trust me, with or without LSU football, you upgraded bigly.

ETA: I assume you're talking about UMass Boston and not UMass Amherst.

Yep, wrong campus. Amherst is a nice little town but it's pretty dull. Good luck.

But there's a spot not too far from Amherst called Stone Cow Brewery. Highly recommend checking it out. It's a large farm property with awesome BBQ and beer.

You're also about an hour away from Tree House, one of the best breweries in the country. Worth the drive one Saturday to have a couple pints and spend way too much money on cans.

Well i’m In Amherst

Just finished law school in Boston not terribly long ago (but I was here a few years prior).

Amherst is a little isolated, but there are things to do if you're willing to drive. Worcester has a really cool restaurant and bar scene and Springfield has MGM. There are also a bunch of rec. dispensaries out in Western Mass. if you're into that kinda thing.

Try to enjoy it though, man. It's beautiful out there.
Lots of fly fishing and hiking and outdoors shite.

You should come into the city for a game one day. I have it on good authority that AbitFan will buy you a crispy boy.

ETA, I forgot you are out in Cole Tracy's neck of the woods. Gotta be at least a handful of LSU fans kicking around out there.

There are worse places to be stuck in the middle of nowhere. The winter gets kinda grey but lots of things to do outside. Mass has a ton of small ski resorts all around your area (Berkshire East, Jimminy Peak, a bunch I am forgetting). Much different experience from going to Vail or something like that but a fun day trip for sure and certainly doeskin cost a mortgage payment. As mentioned above, lots of good fly fishing. The Deerfield river holds a ton of fish and has a lot of different types of water and public access.

This is the best time of year to be there, the fall is awesome and there is still a healthy appreciation for college football up there. You will probably be surprised how much you end up enjoying it.

Wachusett is about 45-50 mins from Amherst as well.

I know an LSU alumnus, Blake, that owns and operates Copper Cannon Distillery in West Chesterfield, NH. It's 45 minutes north of Amherst. He does tastings on the weekend. If he's working, I will bet he’d give you a free tasting if you greeted him with a Geaux Tigers.

Tree House Brewing is not far away. I used to live in Northampton many years ago. Cool little town. Apparently there was a time when Smith College had a lot of hot babes. Not when I was there. I doubt it's changed, since...

I know how you feel.

I'm in grad school at an FCS school out west. I love it out here, but it's weird being at a school where football isn't a huge deal.
