re: Cabo golf trip - chauncey1 on 8/25/20 at 12:02 am
That trip was the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica. You get access to the course as a guest. The resort was nice, other than the wine. The current was strong so you’re probably hanging in the pool. The couple we went with are big fans of The One and Only Palmilla, but the course at Q Is nicer according to...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Cabo golf trip - chauncey1 on 8/24/20 at 6:45 am
Quivira is a amazing course! If I remember right, 16 or 17 holes had ocean views. You are also looking down on Tiger's Diamanté course for a few holes. We had several pods of whales pass while we were playing, which was pretty cool. I played it in the morning and afternoon on consecutive days. T...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
Venture Capital Investment- experiences? - chauncey1 on 7/25/20 at 10:56 pm
Has anyone invested in a VC fund? What was your experience? I'm considering reallocating a portion of my stock portfolio into a VC fund for further diversification. With the world changing, it seems like a reasonable time to invest in early-stage businesses. I also don't mind pulling a little cash...

re: Golf in Houston? - chauncey1 on 5/16/20 at 12:13 am
Northgate is a good deal. People either love or hate the course. I like the course, but you should play it first. The management does a decent job of keeping the course in good shape. They try. It was 27 holes but after the tax day flood it dropped to 18 with a Fast 5 (practice holes). Bonus: The...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Pediatric Heart Specialist - chauncey1 on 10/5/19 at 10:44 am
Texas Children's is ranked as the #1 pediatric cardiology hospital in the country for the past three years. They have a new tower that was opened last year. If I were in your situation I would go there. Boston and CHOP are also renowned. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: LSU to Umass - chauncey1 on 9/25/19 at 3:59 pm
I know an LSU alumnus, Blake, that owns and operates Copper Cannon Distillery in West Chesterfield, NH. It's 45 minutes north of Amherst. He does tastings on the weekend. If he's working, I will bet he’d give you a free tasting if you greeted him with a Geaux Tigers....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Why hasn’t F King been fired yet? - chauncey1 on 9/11/19 at 2:13 pm
Ralph, no one said Florida or Georgia are “public ivy’s”. However, they have a better academic brand than LSU nationally. LSU has no reason it can’t be considered a top tier SEC school with the right vision, leadership and investment within a reasonable time frame. It’s a realistic goal and we s...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Why hasn’t F King been fired yet? - chauncey1 on 9/10/19 at 11:31 pm
I agree with gillian. The right transformation is essential. Universities are not the gatekeepers of information like they were in the past. Everything you study can be found in a library or on google. The school organizes the relevant learning and provides the student with a peice of parchment th...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Why hasn’t F King been fired yet? - chauncey1 on 9/10/19 at 11:13 pm
LSU has no acceptable reason it can't be on par with a Georgia, Florida or any other state school. UGA and UF compete with GA Tech and FL State for state funds and should be at a competitive disadvantage. LSU is the clear flagship school for the state. It will take time to turn around the LSU brand,...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
Next Step - chauncey1 on 4/17/19 at 3:20 pm
Alleva “resigning” is a step in the right direction. I am hopeful the LSU B.o.S. has a candidate identified, and King is not involved. I would have preferred if King “resigned” first to give the new president a voice in the selection. The next step is the removal of King. Does Fuentes-Martin fo...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
re: LSU football season ticket sales call - chauncey1 on 4/9/19 at 9:43 pm
Tiger foot, Skip left as AD in 2008. At the end of the 2007-2008 seasons the football, baseball and gymnastics were top 5 and softball was top 15. (LSU also had other sports that were top 10, WBB and T&F). Maintaining winning is not easy, but Alleva didn't make the programs great. How many sca...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: LSU football season ticket sales call - chauncey1 on 4/9/19 at 5:38 pm
The tickets are in the lower bowl. They're good tickets. I asked the question because I thought it was odd that they called and extended the deadline. I have children with activities, and we live in Texas. Driving to Baton Rouge for the games is a chore. I usually end up giving away more than...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
LSU football season ticket sales call - chauncey1 on 4/9/19 at 1:45 pm
After years of being a season ticket holder, I made a decision to not renew my season football tickets this year because of King, Alleva, the loss of the tax deduction, and increased prices. LSU called this morning and extended the deadline till Friday to make the donation. I'm assuming this may m...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (20)
re: It really surprises me Augusta national caved on this women’s Am - chauncey1 on 4/8/19 at 6:16 am
There was a rumor that Darla Moore was on a shortlist to be invited to join Augusta National prior to Martha Burke starting protests. Hootie Johnson then withheld the membership. He refused to let women in until the protest stopped. If I remember correctly 2 members left the club because of optics....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
re: Say your kid got into Rice, SMU, and Tulane. - chauncey1 on 3/23/19 at 11:14 am
Rice is the better academic school. The job markets are better in Houston and Dallas. The schools have three very different student populations. Rice is more studious, SMU is a wealthier/preppy, Tulane has more people from the northeast. . Depends on the kid and the major, but Tulane al...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
