lsusports.net press release.
BATON ROUGE -- As part of a continuing effort to expand the LSU brand and enhance fan experience, the LSU Athletics Department announced that online streaming of all LSU Sports Radio Network programming will be free of charge on desktop and mobile devices in 2016-17.
At least 165 LSU Sports Radio Network live-game broadcasts and 77 coaches’ radio shows will be streamed for free on “LSUsports.net Live” this season.
All on-demand video and live video of non-game action such as press conferences, coaches' televisions shows and special presentations will be subscription-free as well.
Fans around the world will have access on desktop and mobile devices by visiting LSUsports.net/live. Mobile data and other user charges may apply. Contact your mobile or internet provider for details.
For the 18th-consecutive season, LSU Athletics will stream all radio network broadcasts for football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, and softball; along with regularly scheduled press conferences, coaches’ shows and postseason events.
The 2016-17 radio broadcast season begins on Wednesday, Aug. 24, live at TJ Ribs when first-year “Voice of the Tigers” Chris Blair is joined by the football head coach for the hour-long “Les Miles Show presented by Capital One Bank.”
Live-game streaming video of most home LSU Athletics events will continue to be offered via SEC Network+ and the WatchESPN app. For details on these offerings, visit the sports schedules on LSUsports.net or www.SECsports.com/watch.
More than 700 hours of original content is streamed online annually through LSUsports.net. LSU was among the first athletics departments in the nation to stream official audio broadcasts via a subscription service starting in 1999.
For more information on advertising opportunities within online streaming broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network, contact LSU Sports Properties at 225.578.8883.

It just says "athletics". I'd want to say football would be a different beast altogether.
I hope this is true, though.

Get rid of cable, pay for season tickets

So is this just the radio play by play? Or is there video?
Posted on 8/2/16 at 8:25 am to tke857
I'm sure it will only be audio for football. This isn't going to change the rights of the SECN.

yea I think yall are right about football, the way LSU twitter account worded their tweet is a little confusing.
Posted on 8/2/16 at 8:32 am to roguetiger15
Yeah it's basically what was left of Geaux Zone content following the SECN agreement.
Posted on 8/2/16 at 8:35 am to tke857
Dude it's just audio. Keep the cable.

Misleading title is misleading.

It does include video but not from any live games:

This is "Officially" whack AF

So what's different now than in the past that made LSU feel like it was newsworthy to put this out there?
Posted on 8/2/16 at 9:03 am to roguetiger15
It's free and you don't need a GZ subscription.
Posted on 8/2/16 at 9:06 am to roguetiger15
Great news. They are getting a ton of money from the SEC Network now. It just makes sense for radio broadcasts to be free.

Please be true. I hate missing the baseball audio when I'm too tied up to watch it on tv.
