Didnt Ruston just fire him?
You have got to be the dumbest person to ever post on here. He is a legend at Ruston High and he’s the single reason the Bearcats went to the Dome 3 straight seasons while he was the DC. He’s forgotten more about football than you will ever know. He will do a hell of a job as the D Line coach for the Tigahs.

Absolutely not. Kyle and the RHS head coach are really close. Kyle coached for free until they made him draw a salary. Donated more money to the RHS football program than any other previous RHS alum that were former pro athletes. I know Kyle. Worked with his dad. He took some time off after retirement, spent some quality time with his family, helped Ruston High get good again in football, and now it’s time to take the next step. He’s been going to Buffalo on and off since the end of high school playoffs. He was going to be an analyst there and would eventually land somewhere as a DL coach. I have no doubt in my mind that he will be an excellent coach nor am I worried about his recruiting prowess. Kyle is not some snake oil salesman and will relate to our young athletes just fine. If you ever met him you would love the hire.

The players at RHS loved Kyle. He will do very well in recruiting. He single-handedly got a lot of athletes from lower income families who traditionally would never play football to start playing and now a couple of them are playing in college, two at LSU.

I'm cool with it... we need some continuity in that room. It's been a revolving door for way too long. I'm tired of coach retreads and trying to hire the biggest name.
Football is FOOTBALL for a guy like him. He's only 7 years removed from playing the game so he understands this era of football.
Once he learns the operational side/NCAA rules, I think he will be fine.

How do we know? What's his DL coaching record?

13-2

As a DC… and maybe I’m wrong but teaching a whole defensive scheme in HS still seems harder than teaching swim moves to college players.
quote:
Ruston High head football coach Jerrod Baugh confirmed to the Ruston Leader that Ruston High School defensive coordinator Kyle Williams informed the Bearcat football program Tuesday he'll be stepping down from his role and will not return for the 2025 season. The Lincoln Parish Journal first broke the news. Williams, a RHS graduate and former standout at defensive tackle for the Bearcats, LSU and Buffalo Bills, had worked as defensive coordinator since 2020 for Ruston High, turning the Bearcats into of the best units in the state.
quote:
Williams’ impact helped Ruston develop multiple Division I athletes, including Ahmad Breaux (LSU), Geordan Guidry (Tulane), and Jadon Mayfield (Louisiana Tech) in recent years. Zheric Hill (LA Tech) and Aidan Anding (LSU) also signed with DI programs this past season. During the Bearcats’ run to the state championship game since 2022, Ruston’s defense held opponent to under 19 ppg in the postseason
And I don’t think he’ll have an issue recruiting. His name and pedigree alone will help him in recruiting.

I just hope he can recruit.

I asked a question, moron
Often coaches that are about to be fired say they are leaving to spend more time with family. And since he clearly didnt leave for another job, and Central toasted Rustons defense, I asked if was he fired. I didnt claim he was fired
Hes been out of work for 2 months, and several candidates have told CBK, No. So obviously he didnt leave for the LSU job
You can unclinch your arse now

1. Has the name recognition
2. Has pro skins on the wall
3. Has HS coaching connections with top programs, especially N. LA
4. Bleeds P&G
How anyone can be disappointed by this move, especially at this point in the coaching carousel, is beyond me

All in!
He certainly knows the position group and is one of the best.
All freaking in!

Bc he came here to be the edge rushers coach Baker likes to have 2 coaches for d-line
So what?
He’s been a DL coach…in the SEC. It doesn’t preclude him from being the DL coach and bringing in someone to coach interior.
He either didn’t want it (which I think may be the case) or he got passed over.

Ahmad Breaux punching above his weight probably helps too. Nobody expected him to contribute as a freshman. Undersized. But obviously put the work in and outplayed vets in practice.
You also have to be impressed with Rustons success. Great program but been top notch in recent years and defense was their calling card.

You know Ahmad Breaux is gonna be fired up about this I bet the other players will be as well!

So what?
You’re getting caught up in semantics

Kyle Williams will not be above Peoples. They are both assistant coaches working under Blake Baker.
Posted on 3/6/25 at 4:47 pm to JimTiger72
Was Bo Davis above Peoples?
Posted on 3/6/25 at 4:47 pm to Fun Bunch
I mean he coaches 1/2 our front 4 and the “DL” coach coaches the other half of front 4.
I dont see how this is would have been a promotion if we have to have a DL and an Edge rushers coach.

No
Is Jake Olsen (Safeties Coach) under Raymond (Secondary Coach)?
No. They are position coaches who work for Blake Baker & Brian Kelly

Hope it works but don't love the on the job training aspect.
i think it's very fair to say he is underqualified for this role at a program of this echelon.
Agreed.
Posted on 3/6/25 at 4:51 pm to lsufan0582
And he got coached by bo davis while at lsu. This is a home run hire regardless of experience. He has gotten coached by the best and he is a hall of famer who knows what it takes and how it should be done. Very nice move cbk ...very nice

Objectively yes.
The title of Secondary or DL is objectively better than a more specific position group. I don’t know what to tell you.
We will agree to disagree and be happy for Kyle. I’m not gonna do a pride and argue this for 20 pages. It’s not necessary.

Like I said you’re getting caught up in semantics & probably haven’t been around many LSU coaching staffs
