If it was Dorsey or McFarland you'd be jumping for joy.

This is great news. I am sure he knows how to teach technique due to his many years as a collegiate and NFL defensive interior lineman. I am sure that he can talk to Pete Jenkins about practice routines and drills. We all know that he is a hard worker. He never got the respect he deserved as a player at LSU and fooled all of the experts by becoming an outstanding professional defensive lineman. He also seriously upgrades the golf playing ability of our coaching staff.

How do we know? What's his DL coaching record?

Dude was in the NFL 7 years ago. He can definitely relate to a lot of these guys. I’ll take a 6 time pro bowler any day

I don’t worry so much about the coaching aspect of it, some sort of overrate the time it takes to ascend there to be a position coach. A few years ago people were afraid Sheppard was too green to be our LBs coach, now he’s an NFL DC.

I do question a guy with his money in the bank and years in the league if he truly has the desire to put in the time and effort to hitting the road and recruiting but I’m sure he knows what he’s signed up for

Fair question that will be asked by many.

It’s definitely a calculated risk but in this case I’m all for it, especially when you think about the turnover, timing, new era of college football with NIL etc

Not really barry, not really.

I’m not saying he will be on a similar rocket ship but there are plenty of guys that go from playing to coaching in the NFL almost immediately, it’s not really that far fetched to think a guy with Kyle’s resume is more than capable of coaching the position

Gives me RB Coach Kevin Faulk vibes

I don’t get that at all tbh. For one, Orgeron was running the ship so any lack of coaching qualifications were amplified.

When we started recruiting the Ohio RB you knew Kev wouldn’t make it.

Williams was an undersized defensive tackle who had 13 years in the league.

Tells you a lot about his makeup, understanding of technique etc
