The defense is on the field more this year. We are 50th for time of possession. Prior to this year we were top 20 for TOP

Defense on field more.
Opponents have to be aggressive to counter deficits.
Defense loses focus when they can be bailed out by offense.
Poor tackling.
Mental mistakes.
Personnel.
Coaching.
All of these and more may contribute.
I am sure that Orgeron and Aranda are not happy.
As a fan, I am joyful about our team and our current standing. If you are not, I feel bad for you.

But you're also assuming no other teams around the country's offenses are consistently getting better. This isn't a base metric it is a comparative stat relative to other defenses.
Also when you are the highest paid DC you BETTER have at least a top 10 defense.

This does it for me. Whether it's players or scheme, it's Amanda's responsibility. He should have his players there by now, and we're in a serious defensive decline.
Compare this with Canada's offense. He was supposed to be a guru too, but we quickly figured out that the motions were just a gimmick ggat didn't fool anyone. They made it harder on our players to perform without confusing the opposing defense.
I think it's just taken us longer to learn the same about Aranda. Wrong pllayers, gimmick scheme that everyone has figured out, and is hurting us.

We whiffed on a lot of defensive talent lately (especially in state talent). Part of that was due to us not winning anything and I know many here won’t like to hear this but part of it was due to hiring Ed Orgeron as our head coach. His past stint as head coach was used heavily against us in recruiting. Other coaches were really talking shite about him and saying he was going to tank LSU big time. They were wrong apparently and now go take a look at the recruits we have committed this year. We have some very nasty defensive players committed and a lot of them. If I’m 2 years, we are still having defensive issue, then we can talk about moving on from Aranda.
