Now do the quality of DL and LB recruits over the same time period

I have come to the recent conclusion that the issue is our LB's and DB depth. This defense is designed to funnel the play to the LB's with the Safety cleaning up the flats.

I also have some questions about scheme. Earlier in the year CEO said we would be on the attach this year to get more pressure on the QB. I see very little of this and on running plays we seem to be reading at the line rather than penetrating and blowing the play up.

The author or speaker implies, the reader or listener infers. You’re suggesting the poster you are replying to inferred something from your post you did intend to imply.

Given the tone on the board, I can understand making the inference. But this being a stand alone thread allows you to plead innocence about any implications, though it seems a little bit of a stretch.

I think at some point you have to question effort and talent of the players.

FIFY. There is only one real star on this team, and he is a freshman.

I think that the majority are no more than average and very undisciplined/inconsistent to boot. Aranda is also under-performing, no doubt, but has very little to work with.

We are going to need the defense/Aranda to have A games in the SEC championship and playoffs if we are going to win a NC.

Just my 2c.

What are the offensive numbers same time frame?

Why is that relevant in a discussion about defense?

Every team LSU plays, the opposing team has their best offensive output of the season! Texas, vandy, Florida, ole miss. LSU isn’t the only team running the rpo. But somehow LSU is the only team giving up this amount of pts and yards Bc of rpo? As y’all can see, his scheme isn’t good. Defense has gotten worse each year! I hate to see next year when the offense won’t out score everyone

Aranda has been under O for all but 2 of his games at LSU. Their recruiting strategies clearly have not worked for keeping these defenses as strong as possible and Aranda has shown limited ability to develop players at LBer and DL at this point. White is an outlier there and he has not been able to develop anyone else from scratch.

Meatball hasn’t been good and Johnson has been an expected disappointment for LSU fans that are also fans of the Saints.

There is legitimate complaints to go around on that side of the ball for O, Aranda and position coaches except Raymond when talking about the defense during Os tenure.

This defense has talent. Sure, it’s not as talented as recent D’s but the talent is certainly above average. Hopefully the coaches can make the necessary adjustments and get these guys playing better. We’re not winning it all playing like this. Delpit is hurt and should only play if necessary the next two weeks.

Any competitor would not shy away from carrying the team.

Last year the excuse was “7 over times” well we haven’t played OT this year.

I think DA scheme is too vanilla. Loves playing base defenses. Opposing coaches are too good and will find your weaknesses.

So what do you think the problem is? The man didn’t suddenly forget how to coach. Does he not have the right personnel for the scheme he runs or is his scheme just not effective because opposing coaches have figured him out?

IMHO, a little of Bo Pellini concept...
great at first but when other coaches adjust,
not a second act.

Did you not see the defensive performance last night? For one thing, we had several long possessions and gave the defense time to rest. It's time to quit blaming the offense. Defense needs to step up and be held accountable.

Could it be the coaching and schemes are making them look average?

But he might shy away from carrying a team and still having no chance at a Natty because he can't play for the offense too!

Kids want to win championships. They don't want to play championship football only to go 8-4 because the other side of the ball sucks.
