The Tigers announced a fan council on Wednesday, which will be made up of 25 people who bleed purple and gold. After giving a two-year commitment and dedicating at least four half days per year, their task will be to provide the athletic department with face-to-face feedback.

quote:

LSU’s average home attendance in football, according to tickets sold, has not been best. It has dropped in each of the last two seasons – from 102,004 a game in 2015 to 101,231 in 2016 and down to 98,506 in 2017.

quote:

These fans will also discuss a number of other issues relating to the game experience, including traffic and parking, customer service, concessions, in-game entertainment, facilities, security and seating. Of course, it would help attendance if LSU is in contention for the SEC Western division, too.

quote:

The council is now accepting applications and future members will also be asked to submit new ideas for things they would like to see at games.

Thoughts?

There’s really two things that I think are driving fans away, performance and ticket prices. Not everybody wants to pay out of the arse for the next renovation for th lackluster performance that has been on the field the last few years. Furthermore, I have seen numerous previous season ticket holders on this site that said that they gave away their tickets due to Orgeron being hired.

Those are the two biggest reasons right there.

You’re a day or 2 late on this. Search “council”.

What were the sentiments of the rant though?

Most of the time, they’re one in the same.

Anyway, admins, delete this thread.

Wouldn’t it be great if the council gave Alleva the Caesar treatment?

But, there is a HUGE 3rd factor. It's convenience.

LSU has made the tailgating experience extremely inconvenient. They've made it amazingly inconvenient to get on campus. This trend of declining attendance doesn't change if LSU lowers ticket prices by 20%, IMO. It doesn't change if LSU wins 10 games. LSU has basically dared its fan base to not come to games by charging crazy amounts for parking. Add that to the already really bad traffic situation, and people are choosing not to come. This will not be easily fixed, IMO.

It’s been said many times. They’ve turned Gameday into a Corporate experience. Joe fan can’t afford the cost for tickets, TAF fees, taking away more and more free parking and select tailgating spots, horrible concessions at escalating prices, sold by a company instead of families and high school clubs, more and more day games and doing little to address the cluster frick of a traffic situation. Add to that a Cookie Monster with a historically bad career for a coach, the primo OOC games being moved out of state every year, and the best sideline seats being held by wealthy blue hairs that only attend the Alabama, Auburn, and Florida games every year and they need to solicit feedback on why attendance is dropping? This is eyewash from Alleva just so he can spread even more of the blame to “spoiled, entitled fans”.

Tv gives me the best seats in the house. I can shite when I want with no line, get a beer within 30 seconds, I can flip to other games during commercial, and I don’t have to deal with inflated prices of parking and the hour it takes to leave.

It’s because there are better options than the Gameday experience at LSU

Parking, traffic, concessions, WiFi, updates, are bad. Tailgating ain’t what it was either

Once upon a time I could leave my house in Covington, La. at 5:50pm and get to my seat just before kickoff(7pm kickoff); didn't have to pay for parking or park in the "hood".

Not everyone can spend 10-14hrs and spend the money that comes with that for 6 - 7 Saturdays. Sometimes I just want to show up for the game with minimum cost and hassle.

The question who here would sign up for this? I think I might, but If selected I would want to know more about before I agreed to do it. That being said no way in hell I would get picked.

No doubt about that. We tailgate basically on S. Stadium Drive right across from the high school coaches entrance, I mean we are mere feet from the street. Anyway, the Auburn game last year was a game you’d typically think there would be thousands upon thousands of people on campus tailgating early, the lots weren’t even full at noon for a 2:30 kick. It was sad really and it’s been like that for a while.

But I agree with the assertion about the concession stands et al. The only thing that the university can’t change literally with the snap of its fingers though is the traffic, that would take some major major funding and probably a decade or more to fix in BR.

With that being said, winning will ease a lot of those ailments.
