you can’t tell jones is losing patience. He was so good drawing walks early in the season and now he’s back to swining away

Jones vs. SEC Pitching
.254BA 17/67 1 HR, 3BB, 3HBP 21K

Jones vs. Non-SEC pitching
.446BA, 37/83 10HR, 20BB, 2HBP, 14K

Stanfield and Braswell have both hit better against SEC pitching than non-SEC pitching.

I didn't have Hernandez on my bingo card to be leading the team in HRs in conference play

GOOD. This lineup was getting glazed by announcers everywhere for being so great, maybe now they will go to work instead of continuing to make themselves look foolish swinging at garbage pitches.

This reminds me of what Jones hit like early in career at LSU.

.643 OPS. Abysmal for a 1B.

Not even being hyperbolic he’s been one of the worst players in conference play through half the season. But better to struggle midseason than at the end I guess

The other guys are who they are, but Jones and Milam really need to start playing up to their talent level.

I've taken a look at SEC-only stats for 2025 vs. 2023 (the gold standard), through the same point in the season (Game 1 vs. Ole Miss):

- Jones's numbers were significantly better through 15 games as a freshman, than through 15 games as a junior. At the equivalent point in the season, as a freshman his BA was .327 and he had 8 walks, vs. .254 and 3 walks as a junior.

- The team's overall batting average is pretty close at this point to what it was in 2023 through 15 games, .277 in 2025 compared to .284 in 2023. 2025's offense has 8 fewer hits in 16 fewer at-bats.

- The biggest glaring difference is that as a team, we had 81 walks at this point in the 2023 season, compared to 56 in 2025.

- The 2023 offense was relatively top-heavy. This should come as no surprise, but no one on the 2025 team is approaching the performance of Crews through 15 SEC games. His BA at this point was .100 points above anyone in 2025 and he had double the walks of anyone in 2025 as well.

- Referencing the above point, 3 of the contributors through this point in 2023 (Kling, Neal and Milazzo with > 20 at-bats) were at or below the Mendoza line. None of the contributors in 2025 are hitting that poorly, although again the walks are down across the board.

It's time to quit messing around and make the move Jay.

Should've had Shores coming out the pen all along while he works his way back from Tommy John.

Are we going to let Frey prove for a 3rd year in a row that he can't hit SEC pitching next year too?

What makes this even worse for me is that Larson led the team last year in conference play and the staff has basically given up on him. Give the man an actual shot. Pearson is barely keeping his head above the Mendoza line and we are batting him 3rd and 4th in the lineup.

i completely agree. The staff is doing him dirty right now. How do you not let the leader in SEC batting avg and summer league POY not get an opportunity.

boggles my mind. Really weird how CJJ built this team. He forced his hand with the returners and transfers. No way he should not have worked more to develop/incorporate more of this so called elite freshman class.

just bad managing,

If you need Cowan to win game one or two, you use him. If he hasn't thrown by game 3, he needs to start.

LSU wins that game yesterday if Cowan starts IMO.

These takes are insane. A week ago, we had a world-beating team that was going to cruise to a national seed. Obviously this weekend was a kick in the teeth, but everyone would be critical if there was serious shuffling of the starters and lineup coming off two SEC weekend sweeps. Let’s see how the team and the staff reacts.
