Actually, no one KNOWS this. It's nothing but a supposition, so don't act like it's fact. It makes you sound like Mark May to make that assumption. The fact is that the BCS conferences will continue to block the non-AQ teams from contending with them in order to maintain their status politically. Actual competition on the field be damned.

knows what? that the sec is the top conference? it's well documented in several ways. it's hard to imagine that even a casual football fan wouldn't know this.

pal, you are way off. think about the rosters. the top sec rosters have BACKUPS that are future pros. not even boise st or tcu can say that to the same degree.

why are the rosters so unequal? because of athletic budget. the top sec teams have football budgets that FAR exceed non-bcs schools. it's common sense that those schools would not be able to compete. heck, ms state has been in the sec forever and even they can't crack the upper echelon.

Suuuuuure, a handful of BCS teams have a lot of good NFL guys, but most don't. You're exaggerating when you say the backups are destined for the NFL too. While we're on that topic, Tech and LSU have the same amount of NFL hall-of-famers anyway, which is a random fact most LSU fans don't know about. The vast majority of BCS teams aren't necessarily world beaters. I'd put Utah, TCU, BYU, Boise, and Fresno up against anyone in the BCS conferences.

Frenso has never been a top mid-major. They just talk a lot of shite about playing "anyone, anywhere" only to lose and fail in conference every year.

They were widely held to be giant killers in the mid 2000s.

Why doesn't the WAC and MWC recombine and all of a sudden this might be the 4th best conference in the nation. Instead they would rather play a crappy inter conference schedule and a half assed outer conference schedule and cry when they don't get respect.

I would love to see those 5 teams together in one confrence and I think that is the only way for them to be "accepted". Until then they will continue to win their bowl games against BCS confrence competition.

Also happens to be a random fact most LSU fans don't care about because the number of alumni who become extraordinary NFL players isn't really what differentiates between CFB programs.

Actually, there's been a movement for a while to combine the top halves of the WAC and MWC. The part that sucks of course for me is that Tech has NOT made its case strong whatsoever for that, but we'd like to get in on that. Something along these lines will most likely happen in the future though, to create another power conference.

The Mountain West needs to only add Boise to make it better. All other WAC schools would be a drag on the conference.

But I still think that LSU should play Boise. I wonder if it would be part of the contract that ESPN would pay part of the guarantee? Or is that sort of thing already covered by their contract with the SEC?

Don't insult those other teams by putting Fresno in this conversation

I don't love that idea. My perfect world involves a baylor-tcu switcharoo in the big XII.

In my years as a TCU fan I always felt the BCS was fair as far as ranking goes. They only made realistic runs back in 02' and last year and obviously this one. But the bcs absolutly allows the potential for bcs busters to rise and take games and stake claims or whatever for their school, but they have to earn their spot. Boise state has to win all their games and if they get snubbed (last year...ahem), they certainly cant blow their game to ANOTHER non AQ team. This year they got the preseason ranking they needed to be in the driver seat, but opted to take their out of conference games to less than .5 bowling green and tulsa, one-win miami ohio, and uc davis. they brought their ONE tough game to boisewith a rookie head coach's first game.

I really wish a team from the SEC would play Boise State and beat those smurf turf assholes to shut them up. Boise did not convincingly beat La Tech. Yes Utah beat Bama last year. SEC teams get real excited about playing no name teams from no name conferences.

no, i'm not. just look at lsu's roster

that does it! the non-bcs teams are just as good as the bcs teams. you just proved it! who knew that la tech is equal to lsu?

i've already said that those teams can most definitely hang with most top bcs teams in a one game scenario. put them in a top conference and that's a different story altogether. sorry you're not catching on to this basic premise of college football

LSU aint scared of Boise! If Boise really wants to play the big boys, then drop the $1MM + guarantee they are demanding.
