can not agree with you more. The media and ap are biased on the voting and the coaches don't want to concentrate on other teams so they rank teams on what people are saying about the teams.

My question to you...Dooley gonna even be around Ruston in three years? Give me your honest answer on that.

Well, obviously I'm not a mind-reader, so this would be more speculation than anything, but there are a couple things to consider.

First-off, of course Dooley isn't going anywhere until he can win some games, and also he wasn't interviewed by Auburn last year, in case anyone heard that rumor.

Second, I personally know the folks that work with him and I can tell you that he honestly has no plans to leave anytime soon, and that it would take something SERIOUS to pull him away. Of course, if Tech fans don't continue to buy season tickets and grow donations, I'm sure he'll eventually get frustrated and leave, but it's looking good right now. He iterates over and over that he's more concerned with building us into an athletic power for the future, rather than just trying to squeak out the win today. This is exhibited by his recruiting policy somewhat. He is constantly talking about how we have more than enough potential to become the next big team in Louisiana, rather than just sitting at our current level of competition and facilities.

Something else to consider is that his wife has invested in opening her own medical practice in Ruston, and his family is putting down some pretty good roots there.

He's the type of personality that is more likely to build something long-term than to just get some wins and get out, which is the main reason President Reneau hired him in the first place. A lot of our fans this season have been saying they preferred AD Dooley to HC Dooley because of our bad football season, but that goes to show how much he seems to be doing for the program in general as opposed to just trying to get himself out of there.

Answer: Yes, Dooley will be in Ruston in three years.

Tech is investing a lot in the program, including a plan to renovate the facilities. The firm designing the plan has done this for other AQ universities. I think Dooley has put his heart into the program and area.

If Miles went to Michigan after this season (IF), he'd be on our short list and no, we wouldn't hire him, but he'd interview and there's no doubt about it.

NO coach plans on leaving as soon as he arrives, but things happen and things can be ugly often - ala Petrino from 'ville to ATL to Fayetteville. If somoene comes calling and wants to offer him 1.5-2 million dollars...he's gone.

I agree with you that he is a great person, but he is in his first head coaching job. He did some great things with Tech last year and has had some bad luck this year. He's a Dooley, though. He's an up and coming name and he's not going to be at Tech as long as Peace was there...not even close. I think he could possibly be in Ruston for 3 years, but in the musical chairs of coaching, that's not a sure thing by any means.

I respect Boise State and wish them well but we have nothing to gain by playing them. The SEC is challenging enough.

I rather have 4 easy non conference games. It sets up better in every way.

If we go out and crush every big time program will look up at us for keeping the little man down. Great opportunity.

The sec also has the respect from the votere to jump any one loss team from the other conferences and all the mid majors.

We have no reason to "shut them up." It's simple, very little gain but a lot to lose

How is there little to gain? Is Boise not a top ten team now? Is Boise not a media darling? There is a lot to gain by playing them and beating them.

We'll kick the frick out of Boise State. Dont judge Boise by the Oklahoma bowl game. Oklahoma sucks in bowl games.

2011 schedule:

sept 3 - TBD
sept 10 - northwestern state
sept 17 - @ miss state
sept 24 - @ west va
oct 1 - kentucky
oct 8 - florida
oct 15 - @ tenn
oct 22 - auburn
oct 29 - open
nov 5 - @ bama
nov 12 - southern miss
nov 19 - @ ole miss
nov 26 - arkansas

I notice several things:

LSU plays 8 straight weeks to start the season... in that run they have two early road games (to miss state and west virginia)... later they have 3 straight tough games with florida at home, tenn on the road and auburn at home

You can argue this schedule is tough enough and I agree... but provided this is a home game and ESPN is going to really make it financially worth LSU's while to take a risk I see a return on taking that risk

LSU will have to grow up in a hurry that year with the early road trips and tough three game set in the middle of the season... given the week after the potential boise matchup is essentially a gimme week to make corrections I think might actually make sense for LSU to take the risk and play their first tough game at home instead of on the road

The same thing I posted a few days back, a lot of people are scared for us to play them. Think about this. We play Boise early part of season, they go 11-1 and might be in the top ten. Even if we lose to maybe Tenn or Bama (think they are going to look really good) We still have that win to a 11-1 Boise St. team who beats all their opponents by at least ten.

The notion about Boise not bringing very many fans isnt true. I was at the Boise-Tech game last week and Boise brought probably 500-800 fans to Ruston to see their team play against a 3-5 team. I think they would bring a ton of fans to experience LSU, especially to start football season

i don't know the terms of that deal. i'd be willing to bet it wasn't for a guaranteed $900k. i was glad to see that kind of game but from a business standpoint, the current deal they're trying to get makes absolutely no sense for lsu.

It will never happen....the SEC is just cant afford to lose their "status" as the top teir confrence by losing to the likes of Boise......wait a minute....Alabama did last year to UTAH.....

I agree. For LSU to play Boise they have to make money from television revenue they wouldn't have otherwise made... making less money to take a risk against Boise is a non starter

Exactly! It's all about perception, buddy! If the SEC is so immaculate and undefeatable, why don't they take on all comers? pfft...

nice flame. look, no one disputes that utah or boise can hang with most anyone on one sat. but most everyone is realistic enough to know that none of those type teams, including tcu, have the horses to make it through a conference schedule in one of the top conferences. the sec's rep is well deserved from many different, well documented aspects.
