As a self proclaimed fatty, the only cross they should be worried about is crossfit.

I have no problem with them having the crosses painted on their chest but I also think that it was in LSU best interest to remove them. In a society today where everyone is offended by something, you can not show any ties to one religious belief. Some would say that LSU should just not post the pic if they have to remove the crosses; I would also agree with that.

So, because this isn't the 1950s, the school is required to expunge minor religious symbols from its photos so that it wouldn't be endorsing a religion? That doesn't make sense and you know it.

I didn't say it meant they were endorsing it. It's just a possible point of dissension that institutions avoid. It's the world we live in. You can keep complaining about it but that only makes you part of the problem. It's LSU picture. They can do with it what they want. You feel they did something wrong. They don't. They won't change it. Continue on if you want, but just because you don't like it doesn't make it wrong

Exactly. They could photoshop dicks in the place of the crosses if they wanted to.

All of this. I'm sure there were hundreds of pictures available, and LSU chose the one where they were going to have to airbrush over a cross. What an idiotic move.

It was just a dumb move by LSU and unnecessary, regardless of whether the right to use and change the pic exists. LSU shouldn't have used the pic if they didn't want the crosses. Eliminating the crosses was sure to cause a stink. Any knucklehead would know that. It's look like an intention to start a controversy. Makes LSU look silly IMO.

This.

This was sure to start an argument either way by using the picture, why even use it? Its not like there arent hundreds of other pictures to use.

Actually you just undercut the argument. If LSU did do this they risk a defamation suit. You demonstrate that LSU does not have an "ironclad" contract or can "do with it what they want." I side with the guys in the picture. One of them voiced his complaint with the university because they altered his picture. I would do the same. If the ACLU doesn't like that I exercise my rights to publicly show religious symbols - that's tough. I would hope that LSU wouldn't feel obliged to expunge a cross, cleric's collar, etc. because they are afraid of a trumped up lawsuit.

If LSU decides to use a pic of me, I'd like to be a blonde in it to see how I like that color.

I know exactly what hyperbole is. I also know irony - like when someone just undercut his argument because he was trying to be funny.
