-it's LSU's policy.
-it doesn't censor anyone.
-no one's rights are violated.
-LSU owns the picture.
-it's in the university's best interest.
-the people complaining about political correctness are naive/the problem
-there was almost zero effort involved to do this
-LSU does this with lots of symbols.
this is how the thread will end. it's been done before

I imagine they were just preempting the bitching from some martyr atheist that would have inevitably felt threatened and offended.
These guys should ask them to remove the picture. It is an intentional misrepresentation. 3rd parties should not be upset about this (i.e. all of us), but anyone who says the people involved don't have a right to be has an agenda. Simple as that.

LSU's actions were not warranted. Disseminating an unretouched photo of this sort can in no way be interpreted as endorsing a religion. For example, if a Catholic priest happened to be in the background are you saying LSU is obligated to airbrush out is cleric's collar otherwise it would be endorsing Catholicism? The fact that you and many others even think that demonstrates that people do need to speak up and complain when this happens. The person responsible for the retouched photo is either afraid of the ACLU, uncomfortable with minor, public displays of faith, or both.

Captain Rhetoric. You probably think it is in the constitution somewhere too.
You know for a fact they were "whining" and "lamenting."
I don't have a problem with removing it though. LSU would get more grief from idiots like 312 and his ACLU buddies by leaving it there.

Unless you explicitly know otherwise, in just glancing at the picture as unretouched, I would have no idea that those were even meant to be a religious reference.

If people didn't think their opinion mattered, we wouldn't have TD. A place like this runs off of people's opinions. Whether they matter or not to you, they still make the world go round.

this place sounds like a nursery 90% of the time

So, because this isn't the 1950s, the school is required to expunge minor religious symbols from its photos so that it wouldn't be endorsing a religion? That doesn't make sense and you know it.

Whats your point?
It does not say their photo cannot be altered either

It's censorship and it's wrong.

LOL. What in the lord's name are you talking about in this post? I am always baffled by posters who respond to perfectly rational statements with ridiculous ad hominem bluster. This is very straightforward. LSU has an ironclad contractual right to alter the photograph as it sees fit. It exercised that right to eliminate a religious symbol from a formal promotional communication of the university. One can argue about whether or not LSU was strictly obligated to remove the crosses from the communication - but it's obvious that the LSU administators felt it was the wiser course. I agree. The students have absolutely no standing to complain, given that they consented to the terms of the ticket when they utilized it. In sum, LSU acted legally and wisely.
Why are people complaining about this?
