From what I can see, it looks like Myles is the better passer. Johnson is the better improviser and leader.

Which is better for the team? Equates to more wins?

Some people will say passer, some will say the leadership. The truth is there is no one answer, what works for one team will not work for another. It completely depends on the makeup of the team around them. Depending on how the o-line develops, it could really help to have Johnson's legs. Peetz and Mangas could also throw some wrinkles into the offense that would benefit from having Johnson's mobility.

I will be very comfortable with either of these guys stepping on the field for LSU. In the end, I think Brennan is the one who takes the first snap against UCLA.

I took it as a belief that Max won't be susceptible to kneeling or embracing the BLM bullshite while in uniform.

And I am of that mind also.

I think o made the right decision giving max johnson 1st team reps.

This will make myles brennan that much more focused.

I agree that nuss has the burrow factor but will take a year to be ready.

Even with Max getting his playing time as the team gelled, Myles had more yds, better completion %, more TDs per game (in fact Myles threw more TDs in each game, than Max did in his best games), same number of sacks, higher passer rating and QBR, (despite Max being the better runner).

You left off some important stats.

Max netted 119 Yds rushing with 2 rushing TD's.
Brennan netted -36 yds and no TD's.

With our O-line having trouble, Max's ability to move better in the pocket, and to run, is a big advantage over Brennan.

TJ is the most naturally talented by far. He just doesn't have the mental side down. Decision making and footwork are still behind. Max was raised by a Superbowl champion, so he has an advantage there.

Thats true, but Maxs legs don't make up for Brennans added passing skills. And the OLine should be very good this season. No excuses.

I'd be shocked if Myles isnt the guy this season with Max taking the reigns next year. I'm praying TJ heads to Nicholls

Yeah. The size and the way the ball explodes off of his fingertips... It's special. There's a reason he was initially chosen to replace Brennan over a kid that already had NFL size and was pretty much college ready.

Absolutely ridiculous comparison.

Also, ridiculous to "LOL" at the idea one may be better than the other. I am not sure who is better, but Max was a TRUE freshman.

Myles played against shittier teams and in games where LSU got flat out abused on defense. Trailing so much allows you to composite a ton of irrelevant stats such as yards and even TDs. Teams up big are more than happy to exchange yards for time.

Myles was not as good on 3rd down, which is pretty critical in tight games.

Also, and do correct me if I am wrong.

Myles had Arik Gilbert and Marshall? (I don't remember when he quit TBH) at wide receiver. I am not sure if Max did. I don't believe he did.

Lastly, if I was to make a comparison, it would be the only two games that Max actually started (bc he got full first reps) and played the full game in.

So we’re gonna pretend Ole Miss wasn’t a shoot out against the worst defense in the SEC?

Throw out Max’s stats vs Alabama, A&M and Auburn when he played when we were down by a million.

He started 2 games

Florida and Ole Miss didn’t have any better defenses than Brennan faced
.
The only guy starting vs a decent defense was Finley and he got rocked.

I am fine with either one as well.

For me, it depends upon whoever gives the team the best chance to win. That may be more than just who is the better passer. I am really big on 3rd down conversion percentage. I would really like to see that number improve if Brennan is the starter. Especially against weaker teams.

Without seeing currently rehabbed Brennan, I would probably lean Brennan as my starter. However, I really would continue to monitor that 3rd down % number if we are losing close games. That is where the ability to also run is huge for me. I liked how Max was able to extend drives with his legs against Florida on the road. I also felt like Brennan had some poor throws on 3rd down or under pressure. I admit that my memory isn't the best though.

I prefer whoever the team responds to best to start.

Max Johnson is excellent runner when needed. Brennan (in small sample size) has failed to show he can get those tough yards w his scrambling IMHO. I’m going w Mad Max until Brennan proves he is a capable runner. You need a QB that can make things happen w his feet in order to win a National Championship. Orgeron already knows this.

Scoring Defense
Miss State: 57
Florida: 74

Total Defense
Miss State: 52
Florida:83

Passing Defense
Florida 100
Miss State 105

I am Not saying Brennan faces great defenses (Missouri and Vandy Suck) but you just think Florida has a good defense. It imperially does not.

And Ole Miss had on of the worst defenses in the country.

126th in total defense, 117th in Scoring. 125th in passing. 101st in Rushing.

I am not going to fault either for good stats vs bad defenses, but people need to look at Florida and not just assume they had a good defense because they’re Florida.
