Kinda weird to post this after they just shut Texas down last night. You could've waited until the series was over and actually saw some struggles.

Weird post after last night lmao

We used our best starter and our best reliever to secure this game. Anderson is good. Cowan is good. We learned nothing.

Who is going to lbe that guy now that Cowan is not available? Are we just going to trot people out there until we find a hot hand?

Schmidt had 3 walks and 2 earned runs on his last outing (1.0 innings). Benge gave up 2 Ron's on 2/3 of an inning. Competition is tougher, now.

Cowan keeps rolling. We're getting Guidry back. Evans is solid. Who else can we count on? Hell, I'm not sure Eyanson will be a starter by year end.

We've used 17 pitchers. We've got our starters. Evans and Guidry seem to be closers. Primeaux is a situational lefty. Which of the rest of the guys are reliable inning eaters? We're going to learn some things today and tomorrow. We have a lot of talent. Let's see who grabs the role.

Last year, we had Herring, Ack, Coleman, and Anderson. Every one else was situational.

I agree that our pitchers can and need to pitch better going forward. I expect some will. I also agree that there may be changes in roles. It's still early in the season.

IMO, Herring was on a different level last year than the others. Javan - I pulled so hard for him to get it back together (think Eugene) but he never did.

This. My whole point.

Cowan stepped up and showed that he's a dude. Ditto, Evans.

Every one else has been somewhat inconsistent and has earned a consistent role. That time is now.

If that same position presents it self tonight, Evans would get the ball for a multi inning save. Potentially with a bridge from Ware (top LHP) or Schmidt/Benge/Rizy.

If Eyanson leaves the game earlier, the same guys could bridge the game to the late innings.

Not sure what is so murky.

Noot/Dorsey/Mayers/Williams would eat innings if the game is out of hand

Only 1 of these guys were worth a damn last year

You missed the point. We know who our #1 starter and best reliever are. We can count on Cowan and Anderson, and we knew that coming in.

Who else on this staff is gonna step up and do what Cowan did last night? Cowan won't be there tonight.

We're going to rely on some new guys to step up and shut down UT for 3-4 innings tonight. Let's see who steps up and who lets the pressure get to them in a hostile environment.

this part,

I think any one of those guys could turn the corner and jump into the “evans/cowan” tier.

I mean give shmidt last nights strike zone and the curveball will murder a lineup

Cowan pitched twice last weekend. Better believe he will go an inning or so Sunday if needed.

I've come to the conclusion that 99% of the time you see something this stupid, out of the blue posted, it's just some clown seeking attention and/or seeing how my shite they can stir up.

We starting a pitcher with a mid 90’s fastball with good off speed stuff to boot. He also have a 40-6 strikeout to walk ratio. He also undefeated. Have he been perfect? No but he a long ways from Hilliard on Friday night.

We’re 4-0 in the SEC and 22-1 overall. Who gives a shite lol. Again our pitching staff AS A WHOLE has been very formidable so far. Not necessarily elite, but they don’t seem like they will need to be.

My point is that our bullpen hierarchy is not established.

I think some can’t get past the “underperformed” term that was used.

But it’s a reality that the bullpen needs to improve between now and the postseason if we are going to have a legit shot to win it all. That shouldn’t hurt anyone’s feelings.

We just took Game 1 from a top 11 team on the road in a pretty solid fashion and your first thought it to make a post complaining about us not being perfect or our pure form yet? Get out of here, dude.

Who have I ranted about? I haven't criticized anyone specifically. Just pointed out some dudes are gonna step up and be the guy Jay hands the ball to in the 6th inning now, when Cowan isn't available.

Who is it gonna be? When you've got 10 guys who can throw 90+, it's gonna be the guy who can consistently fill the zone when the SEC umpires tighten it up and the game is on the line.

We don't know who those guys are yet.

“Underperformed” and “needs to improve” are not mutually exclusive

The top 3-4 guys have been really good. And that is without Gavin Guidry

The other guys have been really good in spots too (Ware, Rizy, Benge, Noot.)

I’m not sure how many lock down bullpen guys you all expect to have. But it’s usually 3 or 4 on a good team, and another 5-6 you mix around depending on how they are pitching & what part of the game they are needed.

I think I know what the OP is getting at. I mean we just don't have 3 or 4 guys in the bullpen that will come in and strike out every batter they face for however long it takes to finish the game. I mean, some of the batters actually make contact wtih the ball sometimes. We just can't have that.

I'm sure the OP is worried about how all the teams we'll face in conference the rest of the way will have bullpens just like the one he wants us to have and we'll never score another run after the starters leave the games.

Much less if we get to the playoffs. Those teams we face there have must more formidable starting pitching, too.

It's hopeless.
