Cutcliffe got fired because he ran out of Mannings. Will this happen if Nutt does the same?

He got the Press Maravich treatment.

No doubt that Nutt has made big things happen in a hurry up in Oxfart.

Perhaps he raised the bar too fast.

Ole Miss has a lot of talent and Nutt is a good coach, so I really don't think they will be a one year wonder.

It seems as though the days of succeeding in the SEC with a QB that hands the ball off and relies on running and defense, only, are a distant ship smoke on the horizon.

Personally, I would rather play Ole Miss when the odds are even, where our coaches don't have to conjure up the past to motivate our players to prepare for a team that lives and breathes to knock us off.

This is the first time in my day when I see a bitter rivalry reborn. Nutt was the best thing that ever happened to Ole Miss, given what Coach O left him in terms of talent. LSU better realize this sooner than later.

Ole Miss loses 6 on offense and 3 on defense.

On defense they lose thier best dl.

On offense they lose thier best OL, plus 2 others and thier best TE and WR.

Ole Miss is losing some key guys that make their team go. Part of the reason for Snead's success is the line play, and they will be losing a lot there. I believe McCluster is also gone and Nutt lived off him down the stretch. They will probably lose 2 early to the draft, maybe three, as well. Also remember that the secondary was 11th in the SEC this year, and with the 41st ranked class, there probably isn't a lot of help on the way there yet.

I am not suggesting Ole Miss will suck next year, but they won't win the West, either. How many times has Nutt had success when expectations were placed on him? Like Tubbs, Nutt usually pulls his big seasons out with the "overachiever" teams. Ole Miss hadn't been to a bowl in a while and they caught fire down the stretch. That doesn't automatically translate to next season.

Give credit credit to Coach Nutt and Ole Miss for an excellent year, but couldn't this be another Miss. State mirage? Heck, Sylvester Croom won Coach of the Year the year before he was fired. Things turn around quick, for better OR worse. Until Ole Miss shows they can consistently win, I can't project them to win the west. I'll take LSU.

Les and Nutt are 2-2. Anybody that thinks that Nutt has ever "outcoached" Miles is delusional.

Nutt beat Miles once with McFadden - period. Nutt won this year because we had no qb - period.

LSU is, was, and always will be a superior program to Ole Miss - period. The West will be contested by LSU and Bama next year - period. Ole Miss will lose to State next year - period.

um what about bama

I can't believe that it took so long for someone to mention bama.

LSU is talent laden. LSU getting chavis is a good get. I suspect the entire team will improve just with stong coaching.

Ole miss has a good coach. They have some talent, but not as much as LSU or bama.

Bama is getting more talented the longer saban is there. I suspect bama will get better.

I suspect Bama and LSU will be the best teams in the west. Ole Miss is a solid team but playing in a brutal conference. They likely would win the ACC or Big East, but the SEC is just too tough for them at this point.

I wouldn't be putting on the purple colored glasses just yet. Ole Miss will have be returning most of its starters and will have the best returning QB in the SEC west (and possibly the SEC depending on who stays and who comes back).

oher, jerry, and i think some of the receivers to correct me if im wrong but hodge, wallace and maybe mccluster.

We lose Oher, Jerry, Mike Wallace, and maybe Greg Hardy if he declares. McCluster and Shay Hodge will be back.

This statement is idiotic. I guess wins over Florida, Auburn, LSU (an absolute behind the woodshed beating), Mississippi State (we allowed them 37 total yards), and Arkansas proves that the SEC is just too tough for us. We lost 4 games this year while our team was adjusting to Nutt's new system by a total of 16 points, and closed out the season with six straight wins. Every team we lost to played in a bowl. We just put 47 on the number 7 team in the country who was crying that they should be playing in the national championship game. I think we'll be just fine in the SEC.

LSU definitely
Cause first we looked like a championship team when we played Ga Tech, we killed them as Underdogs. 2. we have the number 1 recruiting class.
Ole Miss is a better team than Tech. Just how many of those recruits from the upcoming class are going to make a significant impact as true freshman? I doubt enough to make much of a difference. The Julio Jones type freshman are rare.

How can anyone say that Bama will win the West next year? They are losing so many key players. Look what happened last night.... the JPW of old came out simply because their o-line was changed. So do not be surprised when Bama finishes behind LSU and Ole Miss.

I agree, the race will be LSU vs. Bama and Ole Miss runing 3rd, Arkansas maybe 4th. Saban will
not underachieve. He has a #3 or 4 recruiting class this year also.
