re: LSU not ranked by ESPN as one of 8 "Blue-Blood" CFB Programs

So about 3 years ago I posted this article where ESPN ranked every FBS program based on the entire history of the program. Factors considered were number of national championships and number of Heisman winners. ESPN designated the top 8 programs as "blue-bloods" and place LSU at #9 right outside of "blue blood" territory. My question is, if LSU can finish off this season with Burrow winning the Heisman and the Tigers winning the NC, does LSU deserve to jump Nebraska (#8) and/or Texas (#7) into blue bood territory?

Without quibbling about LSU, the fact that they couldn't foresee how tenuous USC's "elite" status was (especially by the time this piece was written) is sort of baffling.

I didn’t think anyone ever considered us as a blue blood because we aren’t. It really doesn’t mean anything either.

LSU will NEVER be a blue blood due to our market.
Also, as long as ESPN keeps marking our wins over Bama as meaningless, that is another indicator we aren't a blue blood.
When a blue blood wins, it means something.
For example, if LSU and Bama are both unbeaten, and LSU loses, LSU drops to 8 or 9. Bama is always going to be within striking distance after a loss.
We saw this in 2015 as well when unbeaten LSU lost to Bama.

So even with another Natty and Heisman winner you dont think LSU deserves to jumo Nebraska at least? I dont think Nebraska football will ever be relevant again. And they havent really been since the 90s at this point.

90's did us in . If we would have been merely a steady bowl team, looks a lot different

LOL. Michigan.
They have only one MNC in 50 plus years.
That's another one that cracks me up.

If we are talking football royalty and looking at the past, why isn’t Princeton at the top? Nebraska is teetering on the edge of obscurity for the foreseeable future; USC’s football program is in danger of following in the steps of a once great baseball program. At this point who cares about USC? Past history is fun to talk about, but when your program is largely irrelevant it is hard to get excited about it.

I’m not looking either but no way Florida State is a blue blood

I’m not disagreeing BUT
How many actual National Championship Games has Michigan and the others won?

Nebraska at least has a legit passionate fanbase. Hell, even Tennessee still does. USC is basically U of Miami at this point, with LESS recent history.

I'm aware of that. Also aware of who they racked up the majority of those wins against.
Again, they haven't won anything of meaning in a half century. Wasn't their only title a split?
Either way, they live off of what they did before 1950. They also have several alum all over the media, so I understand why their brand is held up.

LSU is blue COLLAR, not blue blood.
We have to work for our shite.

Well, we will have another Heisman winner this season barring injury or some kind of miracle. Burrow is going to win it. We also might have another natty title next to our name as well. frick Dem.

Everyone seems to be ignoring it but this was my initial question. Will another title and Heisman push LSU into "blue blood" status?

No, it will not.
When our team is told their losses do not matter, or they can backdoor into a championship finishing third in the SEC....
That's when you know you are a blue blood.

I will add this as well...we are not even close to being done either. We haven't seen the full potential of our program yet like most of the teams on that list have already experienced. We will see the true golden age of LSU football here before long. I feel it coming and orgeron will lead us to the promised Land. We comin'.
