According to ESPN.com yesterday, Florida State could be stripped of its 2007 NCAA men's track championship due to the Infractions that also may force the football team to vacate wins.
LSU's men team finished 2nd at the National Championships in 2007.

Because of the unique nature of Track and Field, why would LSU not be the National champions?

It's possible that they would simply remove the FSU athletes from all of the results, and recalculate the scoring from each event accordingly. With the new scores, it is theoretically possible that someone else could end up with more points than us (e.g., if they go from 2nd to 1st in a race where we go 3rd to 2nd, and if the gap between 1st and 2nd is bigger, then they would end up with more extra points than we would).

They just vacate the titles and no one has them. It last happened with the 2004 and 2005 men's outdoor titles. Arkansas was forced to vacate them because of recruiting violations.

My alma mater, MIssissippi College, was stripped of its 1989 football title in Div II. They didn't award it to Jacksonville State, they just left it vacant.

Where is Mississippi College? I went to Jackson last weekend for a tennis tournament, and heard about this school for the first time. I saw a player with an MC shirt on, and asked what school he was from. Almost got ran outa there.

That tennis player was ridiculous, and so was his girlfriend. She said she was a senior. I'll see if I can stalk up a photo.

Not to mention, the oldest college in Mississippi (1826), and largest private college in Mississippi.

You know... that's pretty much bullshite. It is meaningless to strip a title if you don't give it to someone else. In the record books they won't leave it blank... it'll say vacated by FSU for infractions, which basically tells everyone that they won it. If they strip a title it should be awarded to the next team and the original winner should never be mentioned.
