Again out of all the different programs who had top 20 classes in those two seasons McMahon’s records are 49th and 50th out of 52 teams.

In 2022 our transfer class had 1 4 star (KJ) and 5 3 stars. While decently ranked as transfers (KJ would have been a good addition to another team) but they weren't helped by anyone on the roster to start with.

In 2023 we had a solid class of transfers and had a solid year despite the highest ranked transfer being ineligible before wigging out. We got that class mostly because of the local connections to Cook and Wright.

Both years relied on personal connections instead of straight cash as it is today. And I am not sure how we got ranked 50/52 in 2023 since we finished 7-9 in the SEC. But our composite ranking was 60th.

It’s the SEC man. You can make a class with top 75-100 guys all you want and it won’t be able to compete with 1 5 star surrounded with ready to go top $$$ transfers. HS class rankings are misleading

Ok if it’s a funding issue, then who is responsible for banging the drum to get more money for his program?

Like you said, it’s the SEC. You need to have a personality to lead a program. You can’t be a minimally vocal wet mop.

McMahon has had MORE THAN enough time at this point. It’s time to start seeing results.

Part of it is the AD. Woodward was supposed to be great at fundraising, yet none of that money made it to football or basketball before last year for some reason.

Especially when the coach doesn't have local connections, the AD should assist making connections. Now, McMahon faced a few extra obstacles: There was an open ROA, Wade was popular and his leaving irked some boosters, and Woodward was likely content to let basketball wallow for a while.

alluding to because he has no budget, it’s hard for him to get players.

I didn't say that.

I dunno what his budget is or was. I am saying I was told it was not great and I have seen no evidence to disprove that, and also I am told there was more money this year, and I see quite clearly they bought better players like DJ Thomas.

I don't know. the coach, the GM, the AD? I don't know. i like sports not spreadsheets.

if the funding isnt there, it isn't there. southeastern will never beat Kentucky even if southeastern is coached by will wade and KY is coached by frank gore.

its not just coaching anymore. its like MLB. the dodgers are not the best coached team. they are the best paid team.

used to be you could argue the coach assembled the team, he did the recruiting and all that. but these days it's about salary, we have universal free agency every year. will wade broke the system by paying out of his own pocket. he was a genius. 300k for naz Reid was aw good value.

Well that’s what I was saying earlier, he does much better with veteran portal guys who are already developed and have a mature offensive game. Look his style is half court possession/execution basketball. We don’t pressure, we don’t run, we don’t use the heavy volume 3s. We’re a half court, offensive style team. His higher rated classes are more athletic and potential type and he had no success at all with em so the idea that highly rated classes aren’t going to equal more success for him is correct but that can’t be an excuse. A. because he should know what works for him and B. he should be competent enough to adjust. If you guys, and compliments to you for doing it, would stop taking every comment that doesn’t suck him off as a personal insult we’d be having these type discussions instead of the crap some other posters turn everything into.

Congrats. This post makes no sense.

McMahon is vocal enough. This is just a rant fallacy. Just because he isn’t screaming at the refs and making theatrics doesn’t mean is isn’t communicating. He vents most of his frustration to the coaches on the bench. And has a tendency not to yell at the players, though he does from time to time. I dont find him to be much different from most coaches except that he isn’t demonstrative in his confrontations.

Admittedly, I have not watched them consistently thus far.

Then keep asking questions.
Then represent 90% of the lsu fan base and shut the frick up.

The starting 5 is brutal. Nwoko and Thomas look like they’ve played together since middle school. Sutton somehow fell under the radar, can block shots or shoot 3’s. Tamba can defend any big man in the nation, or score if needed. Tigers have a solid 8 but Reece, miller, and king have the most to prove and will prove it.

Sonic on college? You football fans kill the entire fan base. Stfu!!!

It’s embarrassing.
