LSU men's basketball still not ranked? I hope Wade's team kicks plenty butt!

It’s mainly on reputation at this point. Look at that list, it’s mostly all teams with long histories. And yes I do believe some in the press detest wade and will never give him the benefit of the doubt.
But rankings after 2 games are meaningless.

As has been said, it really doesn't matter at this point, but I think it would add excitment for the fans if this team is to start to get respect.

In basketball AP rankings don't matter at all.
It is the NET formula rankings that matter. NET will take care of itself as we win.

Season just started. The ranking doesn’t even matter at the end of the season to be honest but we’ll earn our respect once SEC play starts if we deserve it. 7 straight ranked opponents to begin league play. We should have double digit wins OOC too IMO by the time league play starts.

For the end result of a championship/tourney advancing season you’re right they don’t.
For the end result of Wade building a championship program they do.
If you aren’t ranked you are invisible nationally. You get relegated to the sec network and never have your highlights shown at halftime of other games etc.
So it’s yes and no.
Ultimately the media for some reason still hates the guy and it chaps their arse that they couldn’t get him in trouble. We have been top tier of the sec year after year and had a great recruiting class and great transfers.
Ultimately just gotta keep winning

LSU is not some weak team that suddenly showed up. LSU’s been among the top in the SEC. Looking at that list you realize something else is driving this.

Yeah man, can’t believe they aren’t ranked after who they’ve played so far, it’s definitely a conspiracy against Wade
Some of you are mind blowing stupid

Who cares at this point? Just win baby!

Despite being "hidden in the abyss" Wade is recruiting just fine. THAT is the most important step to building a championship program. LSU lack of ranking in polls no one pays attention to hasn't effected that.

The networks on which the games will be broadcast are chosen BEFORE the season starts. LSU was justifiably unranked before this season. Nevertheless, only 7 of LSU's 19 games from Dec. 29 (SEC opener) through the end of the season are on the SEC Network. The rest are on ESPN/2/U. The SEC Network games are against:
Texas A&M 2x
Ole Miss
Vanderbilt
Georgia
Missouri
South Carolina
Not coincidentally, those are the teams picked to finish 9-14 in the league. So is LSU not being ranked the reason why those games are on a "lesser" network, or is it a by product of LSU's opponents not being looked at as marquee?
For comparison, Kentucky, a preseason top 10 team with FAR more history and national appeal will STILL play four games on the SECN...all against teams picked to finish at the bottom of the league. In the OOC schedule Kentucky plays on the SECN for every game except those against: Duke, Notre Dame, Ohio St., Louisville, Kansas. If LSU were playing those "name brand" teams...regardless of if LSU is ranked or not... they would be on more "premiere" networks. Want proof? LSU is scheduled to play both Georgia Tech and TCU on ESPN2
So, in total, the ranking are meaningless.

LSU lost 75%-80% of their total production from last year's team. A team that was an 8 seed in the NCAAT and exited in the round of 32. LSU not being ranked in the preseason was completely reasonable and had very little, if anything, to do with some "media conspiracy". But even if it did, who cares? The media's rankings are WHOLLY IRRELEVANT.
Just ask the 17-18 St. Mary's basketball team who was ranked in the top 20 in the final regular season media/coaches polls and DID NOT get selected for the NCAAT as an at large.
