I saw it. Thanks for posting it again. In any event, there are plenty of guys who might not get it done in the NBA who are more than capable of getting a team NCAA ready. If LSU hired PJ Carlesimo (239-315 .431) I wouldn't be focusing on how he sucked balls with a shitty Sea/OKC team in 08-09.

If LSU hired PJ, there would only be one thing anyone would ever focus on.

And it wouldn't be that he was on the Dream Team coaching staff.

Good news. Excited to see what he can bring to the table for us.

blah blah blah not a players coach. Latrell choked him. Should never be allowed to coach again. Players will hate him.

Then one guy would be like, it's like LSU got Poppovich. That guy would be Lester because it would be the contrarian opinion.

The Musselman name has a lot of respect in basketball circles. His dad Bill was also very well respected. It is nice to have a "name brand" assistant coach that people respect for a change, as opposed to freaking clowns Brent Scott and Donnie Guerinoni that served under Trent Johnson

I'm sure it won't be an issue but is anyone concerned about a new coach "jumping" David Patrick in the pecking order? I love the hire and am extremely excited about what he can bring to our team, but I hope it doesn't bother Patrick in the long run. Obviously we wouldn't have even been able to make the hire without naming him "associate" coach.

The only reason the team got any in game coaching was because he was on staff. He basically did everything while Trent and the rest of the staff stood on the court talking to each other during time outs. One of the most bizarre situations I've ever seen.

Coach Cal 72-112 (.391) in the league. Pitino 192-220 (.466) in the league. Eric Musselman 108-138 (.439). Sometimes the team has something to do with it. Who knows in Musselman's case, but still an interesting take.

Excellent point! And now Dale 2.0 has his Tex 2.0

What's more impressive?

a. This hire
b. The fact that so far everyone on the Rant likes this hire (despite some not liking the LSU description of the hire)

I can't decide.

Larry Cordaro was at SELU as an asst for a while and is now the HC at LSU-A (next season will be their first).

Perhaps...but how many "short lists" do you think Donnie is on to be a prominent head coach? I doubt the highest anyone on Trent's staff rises is exactly where they are now.
