I am really expecting a lot from Tyrell Ward.

We're going to find out how well McMahon can develop talent based on Ward and Reid's level of improvement.

And Mwani. If Mwani can give us a solid 25+ minutes at sf / sg with scoring 15+, that would be a huge improvement.

Man, I would love to see Wilkinson contribute more offense, but I just don't see it happening. I think we'd have seen some small glimmers here and there if feasible. Not much there beyond his corner 3. Would love to be wrong though.

I am worried that Cook is not cleared to play this year,

I know they’re supposed to be “cracking down” on handing out waivers but it’s hard not to see it happening. He can fall back on his freshman year being the covid season hopefully.

An MBB is correct because M starts with the 'em' sound, thus 'an' is applied.

The reverse of this oddity is words that actually start with a vowel but are preceded by a, for example, some words (though not all) starting with u - contrast 'a unified court' vs. 'an uphill battle.'

It's not a mechanical rule.

Also known as an NBA offense. Guess you don’t watch any NBA games ever. McM’s offensive sets last year were awful.

You wouldn't be saying that if he had shooters. His offense is a lot of movement with picks to give shooters a good look at the basket. It doesn't matter how good the looks are if your players can't make the shot.

I don't recall us getting all these good looks and just missing them.
Maybe Hayes and Hill got a good bit of good open looks that they missed, but they aren't any good.
I can see the potential in Hayes, especially defensively to get better. The two Justice's don't need to play, much less shoot 3's.
KJ got a ton of good looks, and he made them. Fountain got a few of those good looks later in the season, and he was good enough in those few.
I don't recall any of the guards really getting good looks at 3's, other than open corner 3's for Miwani the few times he played.

Miller needs to figure out how to get better and more effecient 3's off. He's not James Harden or Micheal Redd and needs to stop pretending to be. Take good 3's. He has yet to prove he can run full speed off a pick and catch and shoot immediately, so quit doing it. Shoot open 3's in the flow of the offense. The offense should never be for him to run around to get open so he can jack up a 3. I don't even know why a defense would chase him around close enough to care about him taking a shot he's going to miss 7 out of 10 times.

I don't disagree, but if he figures it out he'll do it at Arizona State. I'm actually kind of glad that we won't be held hostage to the time it would take for him to figure it out -- if he ever would. Granted, that's the coach's job to make sure they "see" it and then bench them if they can't/won't/can't comply if you have other options.

To be fair, McMahon did draw a TON of open looks for Miller and he missed them. They were almost all 3's but he did get a ton of plays called to run him through screens and get catch and shoot opportunities, he just couldn't convert them.

But I don't recall anyone else having plays run for them as deliberately as Miller did.

it should never be unrealistic at LSU. It should be the expectation.

Again, I don't disagree with you in the Macro. But for this one season thats not gonna happen unless some of these players are much better than they appear or if CMM can get the whole to be better than the sum of the parts.

I agree that if the team isn't drastically better this year that CMM should be shown the door and the next coach should be able to improve the program in 1 offseason.

But where we are currently isn't in line with where we as fans believe this program should be.

Baws who say “shooty hoops” or “bouncey ball” are undoubtedly equipped with micropenises

Why are you in this topic?

"MBB" indicates Men's Basketball.

He ran his offense like Dale Brown did street ball. He won with talent alone.

He used a lot of iso but it wasn’t without rhyme or reason - the offense was designed to create favorable matchups. Sure it sometimes resulted in out-of-control plays but it was overall successful.

The talking point was that Woodward sacrificed Wade to save football… that was undercut by even accepting the meaningless vacation of wins.

He was an excellent recruiter 2-3 years before his time when he could truly excel with NIL. His game day coaching was good not excellent and streaky. An excellent coach would have done better with the talent he amassed.
