We have one of the worst schedules in the NCAA. We’ve played one team ranked in the top 40

Not going to happen when you win 6 games in league play.

I was able to watch. I can see the box score, but it really isn’t telling me the story of what was going wrong. Did you watch? What is your synopsis?

LSU record book only lists the Top 5, but the 56 1st half points for Prairie View A&M was only 3 off the #5 most 1st half points.

Terrible defense again, PV was able to get wherever they wanted to off the dribble. They were small and quick, we probably should’ve gone small once they got rolling but we didn’t. We turned it over some bit on offense anytime we were just patient we got what we wanted. Second half refs helped us out a lot but they burned out some and once they started losing players to fouls we took control.

OU and UT made it with 6 last year.

There might not be a whole lot McMahon can do about it at this point, but they need to start finding ways to create turnovers. Teams like vandy and bama are going to eat our lunch like Texas tech did.

Rest of the country was way down last season. We probably get 10 teams this year, some have said 9.

LSU did go small for most of the 2nd half. Reece and Thomas played a lot of the 2nd half together, and they did pretty decent. I think we may have been at our best with Tamba, King, Sutton, Reece and Thomas.

You have to think of this team as being akin to 23-24 because of their makeup. A lot of veteran offensive oriented guys who execute relatively well in half court but aren’t athletic. We do have a couple athletic guys but they’re not skill guys and a couple of wildcard wing guys on the bench who haven’t gotten enough time. We only have 1 SEC interior player so that’s what you have. Defensively we’re just not good like every other year. We know McMahon isn’t going to change style or add anything so it’ll come down to how often DJ, Sutton and McKinnon can have excellent games. Nwoko is a factor but he’s in foul trouble every night vs HS teams and we saw vs Tech when he’s up against quality bigs he’s ok but nothing special. We’ll have to replicate the type of conf wins from 23-24 and avoid the upset losses we had that season to have any chance.

Correct but I meant at the forward spots. Guards are all typically small ya know. I like Tamba’s energy, he’s too small vs SEC front lines and he gets lost on our secondary offensive sets but I agree with you that he fit well vs PV tonight.

Tonight was a win. But it was in no way, shape or form a “great” win. The hyperbolic takes with no supporting logic on either end of the spectrum are ridiculous

Agreed. That means 8 or 9 wins in conf and 20 wins overall. We’ll probably fall a game or 2 short.

What’ll happen is the non conf and Tech loss will bite us if we’re in a situation where we’re tied or a game difference with multiple teams fighting for the final spot. We’ll have to finish 8th to get the 10th spot type of scenario.

I think Tamba has been starting since he is a good defender and rebounder, but I think Tamba has been improving offensively every game. I thought he made some good cuts today.

King was huge today. He hasn't been an offensive threat, but he looked good shooting today. If he can shoot better, then he needs more minutes.
