Who you picking?????
Running a slew of this dogshit bunch/tight wetdream? Or running Brady/E's killer Spread/RPO?

If it is the latter, I'll take LSU. The former? Too many variables. No bet.

I've done well with LSU this season. But after that crap in the first half of Miss St, I'll pass on the Auburn game.

And I'd give 18 points to Aub in a heartbeat if someone hadn't fricked with E & Brady's offense.

You can still bunch in a spread. Lol Jesus
No one said you couldn't. But that was ridiculous overkill in the first half of the msu game - almost all tight formations - there were only 2 "bunch" sets by the WRs that I logged - entire game (til Brennan took over - didn't log Brennan yet)

But the Chase TD came out of a 4-wide Spread formation

So?

I didn't say the ONLY time State blitzed was when the RB stayed back. The bunch formation wasn't the problem, picking up the blitz was.

More from the article:
quote:

State was using "Green Dog" blitzes — a scheme where a defender rushes the quarterback when he sees his man coverage assignment stay in to pass block.

It's an interesting scheme to use against LSU. It would seem to be pretty handy against run-pass option schemes, too, since defenders are devoting their reads to the running back, which is the first read in that system.

Mississippi State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop understands RPOs as much as any defensive coach. He's been with one of the offense's creators, Joe Moorhead, at Penn State, and he certainly was aware that LSU passing game coordinator Joe Brady was using the schemes in the potent Tigers offense.

The Green Dog blitzes flustered Burrow from the beginning of the game.

Relax, dude, don't freak out. Everything's going to be just fine.

I'd have to take LSU. Too much dependence on Field's wheels, IMO. LSU has enough depth to key on Fields running. And if LSU can load the box on him, he might have problems making pattern and timing throws. That's what the better D's used to kill Barrett with.

Since Brady came over we like to say we are running something similar to what the saints do on offense. Well if you’re familiar with the saints then you will know that they are not fast starters on offense. Payton will see what the defense is giving them after the first couple drives then start attacking that. To think we are doing the same thing. Against Texas we didn’t just start moving the ball up and down the field at will until midway through the second quarter. Florida it took us a couple drives to get in rhythm. First drive we were worried about pass rush so we got the ball out quick. Once we saw that we could hold up against their d line we started going downfield some. Then state this week. Once we see the weakness we start attacking it.

I dont think we needed it.

Brady/Ensminger wanted to see what other formations we could work on if Au and Bama figure the spread out.

yep. Having the ability to play multiple styles makes us that much more dangerous.

The unstoppable 4 & 5 wide LSU offense was almost non-existent in the 1st half of the Miss St game. The dominant set was something out of the 1970's... everybody lined up in-tight. No famous Spread AT ALL in 13 of those 1st half sets.

The first 3 drives (& Red Zone TD fizzles) were mostly non-Spread sets. And the non-Spread parade continued until there was 1:44 left in the first half. Then, the 4 & 5 wide Spread/RPO came to life and scored on a 5-play drive that took all of 54 seconds.

Yeah, that TD, Burrow to McMath, was from a non-spread set. But that was the busted coverage to end all busted coverages (however, the Moo DB DID point at McMath as he flew by... so, he had that going for him)

Breakdown of LSUs 1st half formations from kickoff to 1:44 left in the half:

Completely non-Spread sets - 13 plays
Non-Spread with 1 receiver split 5 yards or less - 3 plays
Non-Spread with 2 receivers split 5 yards or less - 1 play
Non-Spread with 3 receivers split 5 yards or less - 2 plays

There were 2 non-Spread sets in the second half... one resulted in a sack, and the other was a 1-yard-loss run by Emery.

If it ain't broke, DON'T fix it!!!

[edit - 2 plays, not 3 from 3-wide - and 3 plays, not 2 from 1-wide]

And we scored on the first 5 possessions! This is still a new offense. They put in a plan to combat a team that blitzes more than 50% of the time. They will evaluate the film and continue to make adjustments.

But why show your hand? If he doesn’t see it, then he’s not prepared for it!

Because we probably don't want to have to use or not use it much. It's the wasted time Malzahn and Saban have to expend that will help more than surprising them with the old looks in game. It's more film to digest for them, more looks they have to go through in limited practice hours. So every second they waste preparing for what we showed against State, is less time they can dedicate to the spread and RPO. At least that's what I'm hoping.

I liked it as soon as I seen it. I knew we wouldn't score 50, but so what.

3 FGs in the first 3 drives with multiple plays in the Red Zone? You liked that? I hated that.

Then a gift TD from a horrendous blown coverage.

The other TD was classic Spread/RPO TD. 54 seconds, 5 plays. Zero bunch/tight.

Only 2 bunch/tight formations in the second half - resulting in a sack, and a 1-yard loss rushing.

19 of them ("tight" formations) in the first half alone. Point out any game that comes close to that overkill.

Only 2 bunch formations in the game

Your a moron. 2 of those fg drives end in Tds if not for a wide open Receiver dropping a pass in the endzone and Jefferson being molested on another that would have been caught if not for a State defender pulling him backwards away from the pass.

As far as your shading to try and make people bite on your theory that Ed is meddling with the offense, your a lunatic. Bring your arse back to the Ohio State forums and get out with this shite
