One source said he played 1B last season. Does anyone know if he has actually played much C in college?
Games for each position in 2 seasons of college baseball.
1B - 54
OF - 22
C - 2
For comparison purposed Jared Jones in two seasons
1B - 96
C - 2

Jay has earned the right to not be doubted, bu nothing just jumps off the paper w him. PG had him the 360th rated catcher in the country for his 22 class. Again, I understand that things change and players develop.

Is he a draft eligible sophomore or is he too young?

This doesn’t tell you anything, about how well he swung the bat in those games. 3-15 can be very misleading if 5 of his outs were piss rockets off the bat but unfortunately found a glove. Also, you don’t get credit situational hitting. Runner on 2nd, you hit a ball to the right side of the infield. You did your job got the runner to 3rd but it’s still 0-1 on the stat sheet. The BA is a good indicator for an entire season but complete shite for a small sample size.

He’s obviously better than these rankings

And rivals had Justin Jefferson as the 300th ranked wr for his class, who gives a shite

And Kling was ranked #6 (I think) according to PG in that class.
Not a shot at Kling but just showing that these rankings are nothing more than a guess.

I would imagine that Kling would not have put up the same numbers at Dayton that he did here.

At the end of the day, all of these transfers are unknowns. Some will be hits, some will be misses. Bingham hit .360 with 10 HR the year before he came to LSU.

Maybe I should have stated as more of an educated guess. Using someone ranking from PG against as a negative is dumb when you have statistics in D1 baseball that suggest he is way better than PG predicted.
Yes, Kling at a school like Dayton could probably put up similar numbers, but even against our OOC schedule (similar to Dayton’s in conference schedule). he struggled to put up solid numbers.

There's time for development. Milam didn't look so hot last fall.
Always a valid deal to compare guys who've played a couple years at D1 already with true incoming freshman straight outta HS.

Gotta wonder if a signee out of high school has to wonder if he “only” hits .275 that Jay will go out in the portal and find a .310 hitter from a mid-tier school to replace him

I am old enough to remember this argument as to why Jayden Daniels wasn’t going to show a lot of improvement his last year

Well he isn’t looking to replace Pearson
