Ok, so why was he not drafted?

Because he strikes out a lot and his OBP is good but not great. Same with his power.

Of course. That does not mean Pearson is a guarantee unless he outhits the competition on the team or that can be brought in to compete.

Meh, you’re looking at his career numbers, not the ones from this season and the huge jump he made in everything you listed and more.

Pearson played as much as he did in the world series for a reason. Did you see the way he works the count consistently? He has power, is fast, and is a good fielder. I'd be willing to bet Pearson will be in the starting lineup more games than not next year.

It depends. If we don’t get anyone else then most likely he is. Unless he starts season struggling and one of the rs freshmen show up. If we add another outfielder like Montgomery then he is in a battle with joint for the 3rd spot. Or moves to 2b.

Hey may be and I did not say he would not be. He was in there during the Series because he was the best option and Tre was finally put back on 1st. If Tre plays first the last two weekends of the Season we win the SEC Regular season.

We need more production from Neal, Pearson, Jones, Kling and Nippolt or Guidry next year offensively. Otherwise we need people in place who can give us production at those spots.

The bottom of our lineup which included those players except Guidry was weak last year and those players would be closer to the top this year

shite, I’d bet he settles in at leadoff or the 2-hole and hits .350 with 15+ bombs and gets on base around .450. His ceiling as a college player is super high. He just needs at-bats. (Not sure about his ceiling as a pro due to his height. He may project more as a 2nd baseman there).

Don’t worry they’ll be here shortly to give you their input. Then around April they’ll be shitting on the team and wanting to fire Jay.

Do you not realize his play in the outfield making that leaping catch saved the season?

Meh. It was weak relative to the top maybe, but before Millazo was inserted and Thomspon went into a funk, it was probably one of the better bottom 3rds in the league.

I don’t think you’ll get much argument that those guys need to get better and give us more production. I think the argument is more that they will if you give them the reps to develop. There are only so many at bats to go around. At some point, you have to identify your guys and let them ride.

Like what Jay did with Neal this year. (Now you could say they didn’t work since he hurt or say it did because Travinski and Millazo stepped up and we won the CWS.) He identified Neal as our best catcher and started him 4 games a week so he could get as many at bats as possible before the games became really me meaningful. He knew that Neal might struggle early, but for that team to be the best version of itself at the right time, he needed Neal to be at his best. Now you can say Neal wasn’t the right choice if you want, but that was clearly what Jay was thinking.

Bringing in portal bandaids for every position every year is just not a sustainable way to run a program. You’ve got to give your high school recruits time and the opportunity to develop. Now, in the case of Neal like I mentioned, this lineup was good enough to allow for that. In any other year you might not be able to wait for guys to figure it out. There will always be room for the Berrys, Whites, and Montgomerys of the world. And probably the Binghams since there are 3 OF spots. It’s the guys like Hill that have be more carefully measured and weighed.

I think he'd be damn good at lead off as well. Hoping he can bring it all together and hit above .300. I love his potential.

Jay is getting his 2021 band back together. First Yeskie as pitching coach, and now Bingham.
