I do think it’s kind of funny that a year and a half ago this board shite all over Ole Miss’s strategy then one year later copied their strategy then stole all of their people that implemented that strategy

Ole Miss' strategy? To recruit terribly out of HS and then buy the portal to maje up for it?

Thats not what LSU did. We recruited well out of HS AND hit the portal for key positions. Don't conflate those two strategies. They're inherently different because ours also builds for the future, while filling current needs.

The strategy is to hit the portal hard in order to be competitive, which is what LSU didn’t do last year, but did do this year. Ole Miss is never really going to get top 10-15 high school recruiting classes. It’s just never going to happen. And if they do half of them will end up leaving anyways. They almost have to go for proven players. It’s very possible that more than half of LSU’s starters are going to be transfers and people think it's going to be the best team that BK has had. Does that point towards building through high school recruiting or through the transfer portal?

It points to a lot of attrition from the last 2 classes

The problem is going to be figuring out what the new strategy will be once the settlement goes in place and NIL gets retooled. Then who knows what happens with the Portal…

I'm unfamiliar. What settlement and retooling are you referring to?

Sure. And nothing I have said has been a bad thing. I thing strategies will change on a year by year basis.

Overall strategy doesn’t change, or hasn’t changed. Circumstances change and they pivoted. Doesn’t mean it will be like that next year, or ever again. Definitely not copying the Ole Miss plan.

The NCAA settlement to pay players. A part of that settlement is that NIL will have to be legit endorsements of fair monetary value and will have to be approved by a third party clearinghouse. So the days of throwing unrestricted cash at recruits is ending for a lot of them. The big names will have some options but most roster players will just get the pay. So down the road players jumping into the portal for cash will have to navigate a different set of rules.
I have heard rumblings of limiting transfers again somehow but nothing tangible that I have seen.
