Don't see a lot of chatter ab it but Florida needs to finish over .500 to qualify for an at-large bid.
They are currently 1 game over .500 but play @ UGA this weekend.
That could open up a spot for a bubble team that wouldn't otherwise be there
Go Dawgs!!!

Our only hope is to
1. Sweep Ole Miss
if we dont do that
2. Win the SECT
Thats it. The committee will not consider a 12-18 SEC team for an at-large bid. Going 2-1 wont be enough
An 18+ loss SEC team has never been (at large) selected to the tournament I believe.

If we are this close on top of the fence to getting in, what is going to happen when the playoffs start. I would say we probably will not go far since we struggled so much to just make it in. I don't see us on a 10 game winning streak. That's just the plain facts.

So does winning games in Hoover have no effect on your tournament resume? With the way people talk about having to win the tournament or bust, you would think so. I’d imagine that a bubble team making it to the finals or semi finals would be pretty significant

very very little if you want to use history as your barometer

South Carolina went 13-17 in 2017. They made it to the semis and did not get a bid.
Conversely, LSU and Florida went 13-17 in 2021 and 2019 respectively, both went 0-1 in the SECT, and both got bids.

Bases loaded. Force play at home. Pitcher need to charge the ball and throw to Milazzo at home. Nevertheless, Milazzo blew it.

Wasn’t tournament performance a significant factor in us hosting regionals when we were struggling at the end of the CPM era? I feel like we constantly heard from the national media about how we were playing our best ball and becoming a threat.

no, we were a top 8 seed 6 years in a row and 8 total times under Paul. The one year we hosted without being a top 8 seed, we won 17 SEC games which gets hosts all the time. We had a top 16 RPI on selection Sunday. 2014 was maybe the only year where we went from simply hosting a regional to a national top 8 by winning the SECT
years under Paul:
2008: #7 national seed, finished 2nd in the SEC, won SECT
2009: #3 national seed, won the SEC and SECT
2010: did not host, finished 15-15 in SEC won SECT
2011: missed SECT and NCAAT
2012: #7 national seed, won SEC
2013: #4 national seed, went 23-7 in the SEC and finished 2nd, won SECT
2014: #8 national seed, finished 4th in SEC at 17-11-1, won SECT
2015: #2 national seed, won SEC, lost in semis of SECT
2016: #8 national seed, finished 5th in SEC, lost in semis of SECT
2017: #4 national seed, won SEC and SECT
2018: did not host, finished 15-15 in SEC, lost in finals of SECT
2019: #13 national seed, went 17-13 in SEC, lost in SECT semis
2020: COVID
2021: did not host, went 13-17 in SEC, went 0-1 in SECT

I doubt Florida gets swept but I could absolutely see georgia winning 2 of 3 and then it would all depend on a Tuesday game for florida and they haven’t been very good at those.

I could easily see Florida getting swept the way UGA is playing and Florida is struggling. UGA just swept top 15 USC on the road and swept Vandy the weekend prior. They've won their last 7 SEC games. Florida has lost their last 6 SEC series.

How long are we gonna last in the postseason if we even get there, the way we are playing?

we were no better leading into the postseason in 2021 and won a regional on the road through the losers bracket. Kinf of similar season as we had this year. We started off with a brutal schedule and went 1-8 the first three weekends. At the midway point of conference season, we were 4-11. After the 7th SEC series, we were 7-14. Then, our schedule got lighter down the stretch, and we finished the SEC season 13-17.
Teams get hot in the postseason and crazy things happen every year.

At this point, does it matter? This team has no business going to the post season, they made their beds, now they need to go lay in them.
For guys that enjoy watching LSU baseball we care about watching more LSU baseball.

They don't deserve it but I still hope they somehow get in.

no one is likely to do that, just like no one is going to ever replicate what Skip did. The game continues to get more and more competitive and now, like you said, the portal turnover turns an already very difficult roster management situation with the draft (and only 11.7 scholarships) into a complete shitshow every single year

If we get in, great. But it’s past time some of you come to terms with the fact there is a really good chance that we don’t.
Posted on 5/13/24 at 12:56 pm to BigBinBR
well if Bama and South Carolina get to 14 that’s 9 SEC teams with 13+ wins.
We don’t want to be in a 3 way 13-17 tie with Vandy and Florida who each hold head to head wins venus.
