No this is the same team as last year no clutch hitting and awful pitching minus one guy (poche) and who knows when he's gonna go off the rails as well... he's never been this dominant.

LSU is clearly a contender to reach Omaha.

Now you don't have to be Tommy Lasorda to know LSU will go as far as their bullpen and CPM ability to manage them goes. If we make a run then these two elements will be key.

Yes, if the following happens:

1. Lange hits his spots better
2. Poche continues to dominate
3. Our bullpen steps up.
4. Get better offensive production from the bottom part of our lineup.

All of these things can happen as the season progresses.

All depends on Lange and Poche. This team will be favored to win a regional In a super, LSU needs to win in two as the bullpen and lack of other starters is glaring.

In addition to your list, l would add:
- solid third starter (Walker?),
- Improvement in coaching strategy such as (moving runners in scoring position).

This is pretty much how people felt about LSU during the 2008 season. That team was able to put it all together a little more than mid-way through the conference schedule. They went on a 23-game winning streak including the SEC Tourney, BR Regional, and Super Regional. BTW, that was a new SEC record which bested a 22-game win streak by the 2000 South Carolina team. But that 2008 team, while talented, didn't look like they were gelling in the early part of SEC play.

You do know being the same team as last year isn't a bad thing right? Last year we had 1 returning starter and exceeded expectations. The experience this team has will help tremendously in the postseason. And why do you think Poche will derail?

Because he doesn't really know baseball. He probably thinks baseball teams go undefeated. He might not even like baseball and wants the team to fail. It's the cool thing to hate on CPM. Skip Bertman spoiled our fan base too much and everyone thinks we should win championships every season and go undefeated.

Agreed and I hope Walker is our third.

Walker looked good today. I'm confident he will keep the Sunday spot. I'm sure there will be some bumps along the way but he's only a freshman. If Hess can improve his control he will be a valuable starter in the future. Gilbert was a litttle shaky but being thrown into the closing role right now might be a blessing in disguise since we might need him to close out a big game in the postseason if Newman is unavailable. Having 2 closers is never a bad thing.

Not a this point.....its not like we excel at any one thing right now.....offense, defense, base running, starting pitching or the the bull pen. All of these facets are serviceable for now but we havent even come close to playing our toughest series yet. We're still working out the kinks but their is some potential to make it to omaha.

We have a top 40 ERA and a top 30 offense in runs per game. "Serviceable" is a bit of an undersell. Not bad with a SOS at 28th

the first 9 posters in this thread could have gotten 20 runs against THAT bull pen.
