It is a big deal and really hard to believe after a slaughter, give up 576 yards and have the 103rd offense, I mean it is a big deal. Now beat Arky

Sorry, but spare me the thrill of watching the Bama rematch.

Been giving O some shite lately about the shut out, but I must also give the man some credit here. Number 7 ranking by the committee at this point in the season is very respectable regardless of what the chances are to make the playoff. Good job coach.

What would you grade him if we lose at A&M? That game against Jimbo is concerning. Will not be a cakewalk like many are assuming.

The real question is this.

Is there some complete train wreck of upsets that could cause the playoffs to include LSU, UGA and Bama?

I only ask because the national melt would be sooooooo worth it.

I don't really have any idea about grades. It certainly won't be a cakewalk, but a road win over a national championship coach is a big deal to me. I'm just trying to be fair. I think the man deserves some credit as well as some criticsm for a few things this season. He's been getting a lot of criticsm the last few days, so I'm throwing him an attaboy here. The #7 ranking by the committee is respect and good news.

Ohio State jumps us if they beat Michigan

No way. Committee will treat them like they did last year with that horrid loss.

Debatable.

They were "treated" that way last year because their resume wasn't comparable to Alabama. They had that extra loss.

If Ohio State closes the season with back-to-back wins over ranked teams, one of them being top 4 Michigan, they would probably go over a team like LSU. Would they go over a 1-loss Big 12 champ? No. Would they go over a 1-loss Washington State? That would be interesting.

The other issue for us---

We've played all of our big games already. We don't have another Top 25 opponent left. Let's hope A&M wins their next 2 games.

The 1 loss teams behind us will likely jump us at some point if they keep winning.

Having said that, we definitely have a lot left to play for.

A NY6 bowl game is ours if we win out.

We need Washington State to lose again, a 3-loss Big 12 champ, and the Big Ten West winner to win the Big Ten.

And we have to win out.

About a 0.5% chance LSU makes the playoff.

LSU is not making the playoffs. It's done. These rankings are meaningless at this point and they will make adjustments later to it. They will take a 1-loss ND over LSU.

Bama and Clemson are locks.

Notre Dame is now in over LSU unless they lose twice.

Stop thinking LSU has a shot. They don't.

Teams to root for rest of the season if we are to make the playoff:

Auburn- plays Georgia this weekend. A win for them would bump us up to 6

Oklahoma State- Let's go Mullet! They still play West Virginia and Oklahoma. If they win out, that would push us to #5.

Michigan St. and then Ohio State and then Northwestern- Michigan St needs to beat Ohio State who then needs to go beat Michigan who then needs to go lose to Northwestern in the B1G Championship (Northwestern nearly beat Michigan earlier this season, so that's not as far fetched as it may sound)

USC- The selection committee has already decided that they like 7-1 LSU over 8-0 Notre Dame, so I'd imagine if Notre Dame were to lose to USC then the committee would vote 10-2 LSU > 11-1 Notre Dame.

Also remember that we really just need 3/4 of these to happen to propel us to #4.

Without that loss we would be a lock.
