That graph does have a lot to do with cost of living in those schools' state. A solid percentage of graduates remain in their home states. Alabama has a crazy low cost of living and average income as it is so that graph is pretty representative of the state as a whole.

Class sizes, incoming freshman test scores

The funny thing is Alabama does get high incoming freshmen test scores and they still produce lower paying grads than Ole Miss and Mississippi St. If you are concerned about the 40 year career after graduation, Alabama is the last SEC schools that you should want your kids to attend. And the SEC isn't exactly an academic powerhouse.

That is why they should be compared to Auburn and the schools in MS, LA, AR, TN, etc.

Not disabling my adblock to look at yet another meaningless list, but if LSU is ranked highly at something, great.

Who gives a shite if Alabama is on the list? What difference does that make for us? What is is with some people who have to make everything about Alabama?

And what kind of stupid shite is this?

What is it with some people who insist on being stupid as frick just to be contrarian?

You missed the point of the list. The number of national championships used to qualify for the list was not just football, it was all sports, male and female. The Forbes list is about being diverse, and offering a chance to succeed academically while competing in multiple sports that encompass a wide variety of athletes.

I get that the point of the list was to look at all college sports male and female but I still say there are some schools on the list that are not as deserving as Alabama. Indiana Bloomington has 25 total team championships and only 3 of those have come in the past 20 years. Alabama has 26 total team championships with 7 coming in the past 5 years and 16 coming from the most popular and important college sport there is. Academically Indiana was ranked 86th for 2017 by USNews and Alabama was 103rd. I think you can make an argument that Alabama is more deserving than they are of being on this list.

That ranking is better than winning 10 NC in football alone, IMO.

I'm not making everything about them I just said I think they should be on the list too. People associated with LSU just hate everything Alabama-related so much that they can't even fathom the thought of Alabama actually being deserving of some credit for being a good athletic and academic institution. I agree 100% LSU should be on the list too AND be ranked higher than Alabama but Alabama should be on the list somewhere IMO.

Methodology:

The metric used to determine which schools historically “dominate” athletically was based on total Division I Team NCAA championships and football national championships. For a school to qualify, they must fall in the top 1% of the all-time total number of NCAA championships – which according to NCAA records, there have been 1,949 total national titles won (NCAA and football), meaning a minimum of 20 championships were required to be considered for this list.

As a result, notable schools such as Duke University (16 titles) didn’t make the cut.

The athletic dominance scale was then compared to the FORBES America's Top Colleges list. The top school on this academic/athletic dominance ranking is Stanford, which is the No. 2 school overall. Louisiana State University came in at No. 20 of this list while ranking lowest in the college ranking at No. 219 overall.

LSU makes the list because it has 46 national titles. That's more than most of the schools except the California schools which rack up NC's on all kinds of sports the SEC doesn't participate in.

LSU is the worst ranked school on the list academically. Only Oklahoma is almost as "bad". The reality is that LSU's success in women's track and field and baseball is what lands them on the list. For instance, Bama is ranked higher academically and has won more football NC's than LSU. However, outside of football, Bama hasn't won a ton of team NC's

i guess I will go ahead and supply the unpopular opinion that Alabama should be on the list. They are almost always ranked higher than LSU academically (Please don't mention specific programs LSU is better at. Alabama is ranked higher as a whole). Also, Alabama's football team is probably the most dominant team in all of the three major college sports (at least recently).

Ive never seen a list which ranks Bama higher academically than LSU. Youre crazy!
