Johnson led #Arizona to two @NCAACWS appearance in six seasons with the program.

Which would be underachieving at LSU. In fact, this board would be calling for a new coach if we only had two CWS appearances over a six year period.

Most of this board for the past two weeks was in agreement that this would be a mediocre hire. Now that it's a reality it seems quite a few people are now trying to rationalize the hire.

That’s my main point. This seems like a keep things going in the same direction hire instead of an elevate our program to another level hire

I think we all knew this was a strong possibility. I definitely felt it was the most likely hire after not offering Godwin or vitello. They just knew Corbin wasnt coming and didnt want to wait.

I wish they would have lost that game last night just in case

He obviously chose jj over Godwin and jarret. They were the last 3 if reports are true. They seem true now

If that. Look at his conference records at Arizona prior to this year.

16-14.
16-14.
14-16.
15-14.

This is supposed to be impressive? Are LSU fans going to be happy going .500 in the SEC each year?

2 things that are absolutely retarded about this.

1. Do you consider Arizona to be on the same level as LSU? Do you expect them to make it to Omaha as often as LSU? Maybe this is over achieving at Arizona. Its an apples to oranges comparison.

2. LSU has been to Omaha exactly twice since 2013.

One more retarded thing is that you're counting a canceled season against him when talking about how frequently he made it to Omaha. Pretty stupid all around.

I think our first choice that wasnt shot down was corbin bit we never interviewed because he either passed the word that he wasnt leaving vandy or we were tired of waiting for a longshot.

Vitello wasnt offered or interviewed though.thats pretty certain by reports and just paying attention.
I think the info towards the end was pretty legit it seems. Everything started making sense over the last few days

The job he did at Nevada was fantastic,he had the best season in Nevada baseball history and then he got hired by Arizona and proceeded to finish 2nd in omaha the very next season.

Arizona isnt a place where you can make supers at minimum every year imo

Arizona isn't ECU. They're in a major conference and can contend for athletes.

Not to mention the SEC is a superior conference to the PAC-12. Sure, he'll (hopefully) be working with better athletes at LSU - but he'll be going against better competition.

Maybe so but the competition is also better at LSU than Arizona.
