The letters on our iconic helmet are untouchable.
Deal with it.
Deal with it.

Oh hell yeah I like
Stay with the traditional unity but I would not mind that one a few times a year.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. We don't need gimmick uniforms.

Oregon or Okie Light can change there look every day or every other day because they have no real tradition to speak of. But here at LSU, we like our traditions and old school look. I hope we continue the traditional look, with the exception of an alternate look every other year (like we currently do with the Nike Pro Combat gig).
ETA: That spinoff of the Navy helmet above is pretty sweet. Would be good for a game, but not permanently.

Nice work but that just screams "directional school" to me.

I love our uniforms, but we can freshen it up a bit and still keep the tradition. To those who say we can't change the uniforms, I say why not? Surely you realize that, back in the 50s and 60s, LSU only had numbers on the side of our helmets. We went to the "LSU" and "helmet Mike" in the early 70s. No reason we can't tweak our helmet design again.
Helmet: change the "electrical tape" font to the new geaux font. Change the Tiger Mike head (which is currently unrecognizable) to something more updated.
Jerseys: The shoulder stripes look ridiculous. Back in the old days when jerseys had sleeves, our shoulder stripes looks great, but now they look like suspenders. Change to a USC type of shoulder stripe. Also, the shade of purple on our jerseys doesn't come close to the darker purple on our helmet.
I just don't get it. We probably spend a fortune on our uniforms - why not make them perfect.

Hooray! I love off season uniform discussions!!!
First thing's first. LSU has changed the uniform we like to call "traditional" many times. While the current yellow/gold has been the standard since the late 50's, it wasn't always so. And even once they ended up that color, our current helmet did not come to what it is today until the late 1970's when we dropped the gray face mask in favor of the dark purple.
50's
60's
70's
80's and beyond...
Our traditional helmets in their current form are about as old as Eye of the Tiger from Survivor. There has been slow, incremental change to the helmets ever since they finally landed on that shade of gold. Put another way...continued tweaking that keeps this same basic design would not be some crazy unheard of thing never experienced by Tiger fans. while our helmets have remained recognizable over the decades, to suggest it's been static is incorrect.
As for the uniform, I've long been a proponent of having a few more options for the guys to wear...and this goes by to Saban sort of complaining about it when he got here and he was hearing recruits complain about having to wear essentially the same uniform every game for their entire career. But rather than seeing some wholesale change or alternate uniform, I'd prefer we keep the same design but utilize the colors differently.
I'd love to see an all white uni with the white helmets and matching white jersies and pants all with the same striping. Or a gold helmet, gold jersey, white pants (no stripes) version that would harken back to the LSU baseball uni. Nothing crazy and something that would essentially look just like what we currently wear but with more options.

These are 18 to 21 yearolds. And just about every college is doing this now nowadays!
So?
I doubt anyone chooses to commit to, or attend, LSU because of the uniform.
Our uniforms are fine. All the Nike combat crap is fine for one game, but a drastic per meant overhaul is silly. Tradition matters. An iconic look matters. I like that we proudly call out yellow pants gold.
