A jinx statement if I ever heard one. History means very little of late.

Considering they have a warm up game before LSU, I’ll take this score

Me as well, especially since we're working with new coordinators.

It was a close play on the catch, as it never actually hit the ground. But the bottom line is that their coach could have challenged it (all scoring plays weren’t reviewed yet) and chose not to.

I just watched the no huddle footage of the ‘79 game which obviously takes out all of the nuanced context of the game. Judging just by the plays themselves, USC was the better team, but we were holding on well against that loaded team. It seemed like we were wearing down towards the end.

What’s the story on the officiating? Was it the whole game or one specific play at the end. (Never knew Jeff Fisher was on that USC team and in on that final play).

Completely irrelevant in 2021 but I do agree that we man handle this particular PAC12 team this particular season.

But, but, but Stanford's coach Shaw says the SEC is overrated!

2003 Arizona and pain LSU delivered to Tuiospspo (something like that) QB was almost war criminal level drubbing.

Fun chit to watch

LSU is actually the one big exception to the trend that SEC teams usually lose when they play Pac-12 teams out west, at least this century. It's why I'm pretty reluctant to pick an upset despite a lot of situational factors in our favor.

Wasn't the whole game; one crucial play on USC's winning TD drive at the end of the game. It was 3rd and long, if I recall correctly.
Go to 4:05 on the video and watch the USC RG and RT both false start, then Benjy Thibodeaux gets called for a face mask on a swipe at the QB, which keeps the drive alive.

So, the face mask would never have happened if they make the easy false start call, and it would be 3rd and even longer. Yeah, that’s a big call, not Peterson’s interception big IMO, but it’s a big call.

I would have taken that score against Wisconsin a few years ago. Losing is worse than winning 31-20. UCLA has very good offensive talent and Chip Kelly is a good coach. I think we pull this out. But I think we win a close one with 1st game mistakes. We will no more after we see UCLA 1st game.

Refs called LSU DT Benjy Thibideaux for face mask on a key 3rd and long on what turned out to be the go-ahead drive in late the game. Many say the call was questionable at best. But the real crime was the no-call on the same play when one whole side of the USC OL jumped early. Play should have been blown dead before it even started and USC would have been in an even deeper hole. Refs kept the drive alive at a key moment and probably made the difference.
