Cherie Cordoba has been hired as an assistant coach for the LSU women’s basketball team, head coach Nikki Fargas announced on Wednesday. Cordoba, a native of Australia, brings two decades of collegiate and international coaching experience to the table, including the last five seasons at Buffalo.
“I’m excited to welcome Cherie to our coaching staff,” said Fargas. “Her background has a fantastic mix of collegiate and international experiences as a coach and player. She is a great recruiter with ties all over the country and internationally, especially in her native Australia. Her ability to develop players will be a great asset to our guard play.”
During her five seasons at Buffalo, the Bulls compiled a record of 131-56 (.701) while earning the first three trips to the NCAA Tournament and the first NCAA Tournament victories in program history. A quartet of Australian-born players led the Buffalo squad in 2016-17 as Reid, Courtney Wilkins, Katherine Ups and Liisa Ups provided UB with depth that led UB to a 22-win season. Reid set the single season assists record with 233.

Woodward isn't firing anyone or making major changes with coaches until next year
He is getting acclimated to the statuses of each program and what is going on right now.

Yeah let’s further go make sure we recruit as far away from our home base as possible. No one in the US wants to play for Caldwell so we have to go to the international lands to find players who want to play here for her.

Only relevant question is whether she’s hot or not.

Tiara Young is a five-star signee out of Walker High School in Louisiana. The 5-10 guard is ranked No. 25 in the nation by Girls Basketball Report and No. 26 by HoopGurlz. Young spent her first three seasons of high school at Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport before moving to Denham Springs for her upcoming senior year.
Young is a three-time Louisiana Sportswriters Association All-State selection and was named the 2018 USA Today All-USA Louisiana Player of the Year. It was the second year in a row that she was named to the All-USA First Team and was on the Second Team as a freshman.
Domonique Davis is a four-star signee out of DeRidder, Louisiana. The 5-5 point guard out of DeRidder High School is ranked No. 70 in the nation by Girls Basketball Report and No. 71 by HoopGurlz.
And one foreigner:
Awa Trasi will join LSU from the junior college ranks. Trasi is a 6-2 post player from Toulouse, France, and is currently playing at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Florida. She played in the French National Team program and played for Tarbes Gespe Bigorre in the top French professional league as a development player.
Fargas Signs Davis, Trasi, and Young for Class of 2019
While looking at that I did notice that Cherie Cordoba is already doing work:
“I am really excited about the addition of Sharna to our program,” said Fargas. “She will bring an offensive threat with deep range. This lefty sharp-shooter will only add to the offensive punch we have returning. Sharna is a tireless worker with a high basketball IQ. We’re happy that she will be a part of the Lady Tiger family.”
Ayres spent one semester at Marquette before making the move to Baton Rouge where she will have four years of eligibility. The 5-11 guard is from Melbourne, Australia and came to the States in January.
Coincidence??
Sharna Ayres will join the Lady Tigers’ program in the Fall of 2019
