Playoffs or bust - am I being unreasonable?
Yes, I believe you are.

People are usually shortsighted when it comes to these kinds of evaluations.
Coaching staff - LSU is as good as anybody. Return a top 10 D staff. Bring in a top 10 O staff
Roster - top 10 nationally. EVERYBODY has new pieces that have to work together.
The roster has basically no holes in it. Sure, the depth isn't what everyone wants it to be but every team deals with that now. That means injuries are a bigger wildcard now than they used to be. Welcome to NIL. LSUs starting 22 matches up with just about anybody aside from the obvious OH st, UGA and TX
Schedule - LSU has a tough schedule but basically every SEC team has a brutal schedule. LSU gets all of the toughest games at home except for OM and TN and both of those games are winnable.
OM returns a very good roster but it's not a slam dunk top 10 overall. OM lost their offensive braintrust. Breaking in a new DC from a D that wasn't exactly lights out the last few years. That's a winnable game.
TN - Huepel is good. TN's roster is very close to LSU. Fringe top 10 on paper. Huepel vs Baker - wash. Knowles vs Kiffin - Kiffin slight edge. I think that game is 50/50. Let's be honest, TN wasn't exactly intimidating in Knoxville last year.
All things considered, LSU has just as good of a shot at a couple of playoff wins as anybody.
