That's the entrance for the football recruit families visiting. I would guess it is temporary and used as part of some hype video featuring the current team. Huge equipment getting in the way of personnel and fans.

so not doing the championship years on the new speakers?
The covers over the speakers are basically just canvases with the river head and coke logo printed on them. Makes more since to put the championship years digitally on the screen that way we don’t have to spend a ton of money updating every year as we add championships.

I expected there would be ribbon boards on the upper sections too.

do wish it was taller.

I guarantee that in 5 years there will be a push to replace the scoreboard with something much larger. So many competing schools have gigantic boards, and soon the mid-tier schools will start to add them to their stadiums.
LSU bought a brand new car but chose the strip model. In a few years the features and tech will be so outdated that the owner will trade it in prematurely..
I read on this board that it has to do something with the supports. If true, it sounds to me that the design was half assed and if more thought, time, and $ would have been allocated to the project to build a foundation outside of the stadium, it could have been done right.
Is it an improvement? Absolutely.
Is the issue going to come up again in the near future? Definitely.

Well I hope it does well and improves the TS game experience. I personally watch all the games on TV these days.
Me too. We fly down from Michigan for nearly every home game.

Don't agree. They got 12+ years out of the last scoreboard. They will get that plus more out of this one. And where would the foundation outside the stadium as you say be placed?

are the vertical LED lights on the edge of the field coming out from the tunnel leading to the locker mobile or stationary?
The 'vertical LED lights' seem to be stationary, as they also include smoke canisters. Additionally, they do not appear in the initial video posted by LouisianaSportsDotNet.

I was just by Tiger Stadium and I guess they were testing the speakers in the new scoreboard. Just more goddamn racket with those loud boom boom bass lines that jar the shite out of you. Don’t misunderstand. I’m all for playing the music the players like during warmups but just more piped-in racket where the band doesn’t play.
But hey, given that tgbftl sounds like a decent high school band these days with their pipsqueak high school-level director, that may be intentional.

from that pic the area that will be used for replays will be about a 3rd of the size of the entire video screen.

That’s the portion of the board for the live feed, they could use the whole board for replays.

you thought you had trouble before... the far end of the stadium is going to have even more trouble hearing anything from those speakers on the scoreboard

It’s also about a third larger than the old one (that’s if they don’t expand the area for replays).

Why do you say that?

They can always add to it to make it higher

those new line arrays are less powerful than what was in there before
eta: the original danley setup was the most powerful setup in any stadium in the world in fact, the main issue is that the sound energy is being forced out from one location, they need a distributed approach
danley sound labs makes some of the most advanced speakers out there and hold a multitude of patents for their cabinet designs

Your 10 downvotes say “we could easily figure it all out.”

Yeah they could and they also could have done the same thing you suggest with the old video board.......but they didn't.
