I went to Yale but I love my fricking Tigers so GTFO if you don't like it.

I went to mcneese the reason? My 40 was too slow to play at LSU. If you have a problem with me being a fan, you have a problem justifying your importance in this world.

Not at all.
That said, I will make the observation that some of the dumbest comments over the years have come from "fans" in Dry Prong, Jennings, Mooringsport, Jena, Pineville, Zwolle, etc., who have never set foot campus yet seem to have the most learned and passionate opinions on LSU football. Just saying. Sorry.

I don't mean to flame, but, you really know nothing about the history of LSU football and what it means to the people of Louisiana. LSU football is bigger than LSU, always has been and always will be.
FYI
I have 4 degrees and none from LSU. I started my college at LSUE and ended at NLU because it was one of two universities with a pharmacy school. My family has been season ticket holders for over 40 years and only two of my siblings went to LSU.

I've never played for the saints or worked for them in any capacity. Should I root for them?
Posted on 9/29/11 at 8:31 am to carbola
There's probably a fair amount of current students/alum who have never even been to a game.

I'm proud to be an LSU alum, but I have plenty of friends and family who didn't attend who cheer for the Tigers like their life depended on it. The more LSU fans, the better.
Now, what really pisses me off is when I see people in Louisiana who wear a red hat with that shitty "script A" and didn't go to that school. Because "they're just my team." GTFO then.

I wasn't allowed to go to LSU because it was "too much of a party school". This was devastating to me because I have been a Tiger fan for 56 years.

Why would it bother anyone.
If you live in Louisiana why wouldn't you be an LSU fan?
Some people act like if you didn't go to LSU you are not as good a fan than if you were a student. That is just stupid.

I'm from Lafayette, so yes I do know. I started going to LSU games when I was 8 or so. I just ended up going to a small engineering school in Indiana and ended up at grad school at Michigan.

Absolutely! There can never be a true fan of LSU unless they went to school AND ALSO GRADUATED from LSU. If you went to LSU but didn't graduate, you can be an HONORARY fan, but not a REAL, TRUE fan. If you didn't go to LSU at all but cheer for them, you are a NOBODY.
Oh, wait.... That means that when I was growing up and at 8 years old my heart was ripped out when the Tigers lost, I wasn't a TRUE FAN. Oh well, so be it..... Thank God I'm finally a TRUE fan.

Why would it? I was born bleeding purple and gold but left state at early age. I still attended plenty events at LSU while growing up but did not get my degree there. I still love my tigers

I got about half of my inderclassman hours from attending LSUE, but my 4 year degree is obviously from elsewhere. Do I count as alum?
Posted on 9/29/11 at 8:44 am to carbola
I know people that did not graduate from lsu that has spent more money on LSU than a lot of People that did attend LSU. Why would it bother anyone o have more fans support a school than just the alum? This is an ignorant and utterly stupid assessment if anyone truly feels this way.
