Those draft ratings are from 2013

Ouch! Thx for the correction. Still pretty good viewership.

I'm just glad that this year's world series is being designated by the M in front of CWS. Sure wouldn't want these viewership numbers to be confused with the women's softball world series.

Well, it looks like I stand corrected twice tonight on the same thread. I think that's a record for me. I didn't notice the link provided by OTIS2 was from 2013, not 2023. I did some more research and the LSU/WF viewership was still very strong. If the viewership numbers for the NBA are correct, it looks like the NBA's viewership is a lot stronger than I thought.

ESPN announced on Friday that the NBA Draft 2023 averaged 3,743,000 on the two major platforms — up 23% from 2022.
The CWS viewership still looks pretty good, especially when comparing viewership of ESPN2 against the Draft being broadcast on the combination of ABC and ESPN.

And yet there's a coterie of idiots on the SEC Rant who will swear that no one cares about college baseball
"No one cares" is a bit of a reach, but it's definitely regional.
If you said "no one cares west of Texas and north of North Carolina" then you would be pretty accurate. The west coast and New England don't give a shite about college baseball. Most of that 2.02 million came from one section of the country.
I know most of you can't tolerate hearing this, but women's basketball is FAR more popular on a national level, given the 10 million people that watched the national championship game.

I just don’t see the appeal of college softball

LSU social media need to promote these stats. Let these recruits and transfers know that the stage doesn’t get any bigger than at LSU.
True, but recruiting isn’t what it used to be. Much more “incentive” is offered to play at LSU than TV exposure.

I know guys who play in softball leagues, so they like to watch softball on TV.
There are a lot of men's softball leagues in PA. Church leagues. Trade leagues. Travel leagues. It's a thing.

Is that comparable to what elite women play?

This is actually very big for us. This is how we get more money from sponsors. This is how our athletes get bigger NIL deals. You are selling a product and have the data to prove it reaches a large audience.
