I removed Maason Smith from my week 1 Depth Chart due to his one-game NCAA suspension.
Hoping Tank Guillory can wreak havoc at NT vs. Florida State.

It is definitely a big loss.

But for those trying to compare last year's FSU game to this year's game, consider this.

In addition to Smith only playing 8 plays, Harold Perkins did not play a single snap on defense. Micah Baskerville barely played (if he played at all). Sage Ryan played minimal snaps. Savion Jones didn't record a stat.

You're talking about some of the best defensive players from last season barely playing vs. FSU. That game was such an anomaly in that the new coaching staff was still very very unsure of their roster. That won't be the case this season.

Our D Line is the strength of our defense, with or without Maason Smith. We will be fine & still get after Jordan Travis.

I understand it’s just your prediction, but I still think you have DB starters mixed up.
SS-Burns
FS-Sam
NB-Brooks

I think Sage is a -OR- at NB & CB under Chestnut.

Lets hope Jordan Jefferson and J. Lee step up.

Hell of a statement in 2023. DLs > QBs

Really thought Maason was going to have a monster game against FSU week 1. If we could have worked out a situation to move the Grambling game to week 0 that would have been epic.

Losing a player as talented as Smith is huge but If there is a position on the field that LSU could afford to lose someone it is Defensive tackle.

Mike Jones was toast in that game. Most of their drive extending third downs were because of him

Don’t be surprised when this defense comes out looking pissed off during FSU. This sort of ordeal is one I think BK will use to motivate

Pump Lumps getting in their final pre-season "We'll be Fine" BS before the season starts.

That term absolutely makes me , as well as all the other "Cheerleader" and "MA/MAAM" excuse declarations.....

You’re right, our DL is going to get their arse handed to them now that we lost Maason Smith for 1 game.

We’re “not fine” with only Wingo, Saivion Jones, Guillory, Wiggins, Jefferson, & Ovie to press FSU.

Travis will prob go untouched all night, throw for 300+, & FSU will run for 200 against us.

I typically find this kind of stuff overrated, but I kind of agree with you here. The players HAVE to be pissed about Smith being suspended for something so minor that was perfectly legal only months later. The D Line is going to come to play and I bet Maason isn’t just going to sit there moping about it. He’s going to be gassing the boys up all game.

I'm glad the Grambling game was not moved to week 0 for one player.

Championship teams deal with and overcome adversity.

Have a hard time thinking Stamps ultimately gets more snaps than Harris.
