I’d say ppg is THE most important stat.
Eh, there are better comprehensive stats out there.
Idc if you give up 20 points in thr 2nd half of a blowout, for example. Also, an INT returned to the 1 and then giving up a TD doesn't tell me much either.

Nope nope nope fire Aranda

The defense will be fine.
We got the bad game out of the way early. Now we know early on what needs work. We have 3 more full weeks of practice before we host UF. I have confidence that Aranda will work hard to right the ship.

Would people feel better if NW State would have got those yards in garbage time? It’s about what I expected of the defense with 4 starters down.

Lack of tackling. Poor play in the secondary. Little to no pass rush.
These are legitimate points that people are brushing to the side. Granted, I don't think now is the time to give up hope for the defense.
The Texas hangover was real for one half of play. We need to use these first 5 weeks as a "preseason" of sorts to truly see what makes our defense click before Florida comes into town.
We will need the defense to significantly step up to make the playoff

Thanks for posting this info. It will slow down the melt.

I love that the offense is doing better. I'm not going to say that it's ok for our defense to be middle of the road though. I want the normal dominating defense to go with the offense.
Kinda like my golf game. Hitting fairways, can’t putt. Putting lights out, can’t hit the fairway.

It’s not about our defense versus the spread so much as it is our defense getting used to our new offense. We’ve had something crazy like 18 3 minute scoring drives this year, which is drastically different from previous years. This D just needs to figure out how to adjust to being on the field more than they are used to.
I'm not buying this excuse. You know what's worse than a 3 minute scoring drive? A 3 and out. And we had alot of those in years past. How many this year?

Many people don't realize they're are a lot of intangible things that affected the game the last 2 weeks.
1. The offense is scoring too fast and too often on most drives. We haven't found that perfect mixture of speed on the scoring drives to rest the defense. That's my take on most of our defensive possessions so far.
2. We've has great field position in every game so far. Short field and quick scores means the defense is back on the field way sooner than they need to be.
3. I believe we have kept the gas on the pedal in the passing game because it's good repetitions and gives teams something to think about. I can see us using more traditional run plays on some drives in the future to remind everyone we are still a power team.
4. Last in my opinion, we have experimented in the early games with different things and many players prepping for the meat of the season to create quality depth. Our best lineman weren't there last game.

Glad LSU stayed away from the “Row the boat” captain...

I would have thought he would have righted the ship after Texas!

Regardless of what everybody think LSU defense far from horrible and actually been pretty good overall...I don’t care about the Texas game we beat them in they house. Our defense was good enough to do that.

vs NWU - 57, 69, 77, 70, 78, 33, 55, 62 yard scoring drives. Not exactly "Great" field position my friend, only 1 drive less than 50 yards. I can see how someone would be mislead into thinking that's the case if they're not paying attention.

The fact that an LSU Offense can put together scoring drives like that, even against NSU should be a plus.........It feels like all of the sudden our fans are melting if we don’t score every single possession!

Our 1st half defense was terrible. Better hope we shore that shite up
Honestly not worried much about the game against Northwestern St. The Defense shut down Texas during the first half, so it's capable of playing well. It just has to be done for a full game. One of the biggest issues I've seen has been tackling. Throughout the last two games there has been way too many big plays created by missed tackles.
