Honestly not as bad as I thought when you look at the actual numbers, and not one of those teams have played an offense like Texas.

Georgia: 243 a game
Ohio State: 253 a game
Clemson: 257 a game
LSU: 302 a game
Alabama: 306 a game
Oklahoma: 353 a game

Yards? Yards per game is one of the more meaningless stats for a defense.

I love that the offense is doing better. I'm not going to say that it's ok for our defense to be middle of the road though. I want the normal dominating defense to go with the offense.

18 points given up per game isn’t exactly awful either...

This is what I've tried to tell people. The game is not what it used to be. This is just new to our fans. They don't understand.

Georgia Southern and Northwestern St have a lot to do with that number. There are concerns on the defensive side of the ball. No matter how bad, or great, of a stat you choose to use to support one side of the argument, the eyes tell you that there are things that need to be fixed.

If you back out defensive or special teams points, it isn't.

Who do you think those other top 6 teams have played? They've only played awful teams to date. Only LSU has played a top 10 team on the road and our numbers are still in line with the other 5 who have only played scrub teams.

The defense needs work, but it's not an unmitigated disaster like some act.

I’d say ppg is THE most important stat.

I don't care, really. LSU's defense is the one I'm concerned about.

To be clear, I don't think it's a disaster. I believe the defense will continue to get better and will ultimately be fine. But to say, the defense today could beat Bama, Oklahoma, Clemson would be false. The D is good enough to get us to 11-1/10-2, which would be a good season. I want a great one though, and the defense isn't at that level yet.

For some reason our coach says it needs to be fixed.
