It's not that big of a raise to be honest.

Bumping the buyout to $10 mil?

THAT’s the insane part. Ridiculous.

Those are actually pretty good terms for everyone. If his buyout will only be $4MM in two years, that's good news IMO. It's actually not that big of a raise to be honest if we look at the market rate these days. So we're making him an average paid SEC coach with an easy out in 2 years if he falls on his face. I'm actually impressed (and surprised) our AD negotiated a deal like that.

Raise is deserved, extension is questionable

He isn't going anywhere, so why overextend

Is he getting a raise for doing such a good job sending all our dline his specialty to the other universities?

At the rate this university is losing lineman and can't recruit the holes they'll be fielding RBs on the line off the edges.

The proposed contract includes nearly $3 million in incentives, and it would bump his buyout to $10 million in the first year. The buyout would decrease by $250,000 each month until it decreased to a flat $4 million on Feb. 28, 2021.

my god this administrations negotiates some terrible deals.

In this climate, you have to pay to keep elite coaches. I’m loving this contract. Let’s get him locked up.

8-10 wins a season is what he is worth and his pay reflects that.

He has exceeded expectations more than what you’re willing to give him credit for. But please, by all means, continue your bullshite narrative.

It's basically a % of his total contract, not uncommon at all. You extend years/total money, buyout gets bigger as well, then goes down over time:

So at the end of this upcoming season, Jan 1 2020 it's already down to $7.5M. Jan 1 2021 it's down to $4.5M

you realize a $4MM buyout in two years (the soonest he'd get fired regardless) is about the same as his buyout was as of 02/28 of this year right? How exactly is that a terrible deal?
